Made the all rookie first team is a heck of an accomplishment.

Yes I was, still don't see him as a superstar that some seem to, but he has been much better then I expected.

caught me by surprise completely, no way did i think he'd be 3rd in votes among rooks.
one can only hope that he becomes a modicum of a ben wallace or rodman. going against bynum and gasol the way he did makes me believe that's not such an outlandish expectation.
very cool honor.

yeah, i don't understand that either, 5 guards 2 forwards. i guess it isn't position specific -
edit: nvm.. it's reported as a three way tie between leonard/shumpert/knight.

Faried was the guy I wanted in the draft and I'm glad Karl gave him a chance. What is a superstar anyways? All I know is Rodman is in the Hall of Fame and Shawn Kemp isn't. And nothing at all against Rodman or Wallace... but I'd be having Faried watching Wes Unseld tape personally.

I don't see him as a "superstar," either. If anything, he's the anti-superstar. But he can be a model of consistency for the Nuggets. A double-double machine perhaps. And those type of guys aren't very common at all. There's 5-10 of them at max.

I would advise all to think carefully about any negative comments about the "Manimal" at this time. Anyone doubt that he deserved this award? He has gifts that many NBA players do not have; amazing quickness around the basket, uncanny ball awareness and great anticipation. What he has is natural basketball talent and Denver got lucky to find such a great athlete. He fits the job description of a power forward to a tee: rebounding, clogging the lane, shot blocking and good inside moves offensively. If, he had a great outside shot we would be thinking All Star but don't sell him short. I saw continual improvement in just simple free throw shooting and as he began to learn defensive assignments his early positional flaws were disappearing. He got better and better. So, who knows what his limits are.
That said, not too difficult to predict that he will be a starting power forward in the NBA for many years.

What kind of numbers and mpg are we looking at for Faried next year? Am I stupid to hope for a double double with a steal and a block per game?

I was praying the Suns would draft him, but we took another bum instead. Of course I was the only Suns
fan clamoring for him, so I guess the Faried fans were few and far between.
Anyway, congrats on the pickup, guys. I had been saying in the draft threads (where I was laughed at) that Faried is going to be a middle-class man's Rodman, but with a decent offensive game. And it's looking like I wasn't entirely off-base.
