Draft on Thursday

I know we have an offseason thread, but I thought it could be good to have a thread entirely for the draft in a few days.

Last year, I had my fingers crossed for Faried (there were a few against and they know who they are) and got pissed when there was a rumor that we picked Faried for the Blazers and were going to trade him with Felton for Dre.

Either way, it looks like there could be some big sliders in this year's draft. ESPN has us taken Kendall Marshall (originally predicted to go lotto), DraftExpress has us taking Sullinger (top 7 earlier in the year), NBADraft has us taking Perry Jones.

As far as my big board goes it would be in order:
Sullinger
Marshall
P. Jones

Sullinger would really be a great fit here. Is a post presence which we do not have now that Nene is gone, and even if his back is a problem, he'll get to spend the whole year on the bench as Karl will probably not play any rookies either way. Marshall on the otherhand will probably get given backup minutes straight away because I doubt we will keep Dre, and perhaps it means that Karl uses the 2 PG lineup less since he doesn't have as much trust on him. Perry Jones doesn't fill a need but he's a "high potential choice".

However if those 3 are not there, Andrew Nicholson would be a great pick as he's an excellent jump shooting big that can replace Al. I'm hoping Tyshawn Taylor falls to our second round pick if we don't get Marshall as well. What I hope we avoid entirely are Teague and Wroten, both seem like terrible fits for our system. I have heard Quincy Miller's name but I'm not really sure about him and his stats aren't great.

So with that said, like last year:

Wow Eathb you have pretty hands..

If PJIII falls far enough, I would take him. Then Sully, Nicholson, and Marshall would all be next in line.
Maybe move up in the second round for Jenkins?

I''m down with drafting a PG, we won't be a better with Miller gone but we won't have to deal with the 2 PG line-up.....hopefully.

I dont see this Draft playing a big role in Denver's future plans, but I do see some trades being made prior to/or on Draft Night.

I think a PG will be drafted though - mainly because Andre Miller will probably end up with Miami/Dallas

Our issue is the logjam at the 3 spot - Gallo, Chandler, Brewer, Hamilton - someone has got to be moved. Chandler has a reasonable contract, and Brewer only has 2.8 Mil guaranteed this year. Both would be welcome on most teams needing a defensive mined SF.

I've gone through a bunch of his draft profile and there is like nothing good about him.

The French dude wont even be on the roster next season - he will stay overseas for another year for sure.

I wanted Jenkins - great shooter and a decent replacement for Rudy

Well the French dude looks like he has a lil potential, he's only 19. No way he plays this year....looks like a 2-3 year project. Best case scenario he's the next Ginobili, worst case he gets packaged in a trade and never plays.

Replacement for Rudy Fernandez, games sounds about the same after Fernandez had the back injury.

What a steal if Q-Miller pans out

Hell I would have been happy with Miller at 20, I have always heard it takes 2 full years to come back fully from a knee injury, hope that is true for him, and he turns into something close to what people once thought he would be.

Is this the guy that was called Durant Lite a year ago?

I don't know if it was a year ago, but he was compared to a young durant while he was in high school, a top 3 high school prospect for colleges, on the U-18 international usa team, and then he got injured and struggled to be the same player since. but knowing knee injuries, if the ACL is repaired right, then it usually takes a couple of years for a basketball player to fully recover.

This is a huge upside pick with a large bust potential. If he plays as he did at Baylor he may not even be a rotation quality guy, but if he shows why he got so much hype, and truly recovers to be the player they thought, he could be an all star type of player.

Looks like the Nuggets are happy with this team as is, and are not going to do much to change it this year.
