Birdman Appreciation Thread

Post#1 » by OmniDEN » Wed Jul 18, 2012 5:45 am

Some of us loved him, some disliked him, and some didn't really care about him. But there's no denying that Birdman was synonymous with the words "Denver Nuggets" for a couple of good years, including our 2009 WCF run. Him coming back into the league after his drug rehab, playing his ass off, and getting a payday from the Nuggets was a great thing to see and I wish him well wherever he ends his career (as long as it's not the Thunder, Miami, LA, or Boston  )

Officially the end of an era...The last player from the WCF team has flown the coop. (pun intended)

Bird always played hard, did some good things during his 2 stints in Denver. Glad he's getting a ill lump sum on the way out. I thought he was getting a really raw deal last year prior to hearing about his legal situation.

Wish him the best.

P.S. Who the hell woulda thought GK would have outlasted everyone from that 09 squad???

Because (IMO) hes the one secretly making these roster decisions ever since the anthony deal went down. He wants his team and feels entitled since he has won 1000 regular season games therefore he deserves his OWN roster.

karl loved Birdman, probably more then any other player on that 09 team, this is 100% Kroenke and Ujiri blowing the team up to rebuild it how they envisioned, just like most GMs do when they take over a team.

As for Birdman I will miss his enthusiasm, even though he was not as effective as he had been, he was a damn good player for those few minutes a game. Too bad it had to end this way, but he still will get his money.

Who wants to touch Mr. Wiggles?

On a serious note I'll wait to appreciate until we know more about how things turn out.

Birdman was awesome during that '09 WCF finals run. The crowd in Denver has always loved him, and he's always fed off that energy. I'll definitely miss that, but I'll never forget this play:

I feel sorry for everything he's been through in the last year or so. He kept his mouth shut when he was racking up the DNP's last year so we could find out if Moz and Koufos were worth anything, even though he clearly can still contribute. I hope someone gives him another chance.

About Bird I can say one thing. He is one of a few players I wouldn't mind to join HATE for chasing a ring. (And with quality of their bigs he could get enough playing time there. )

That's it. Even if he'd joined Miami I still'd like him.

Thanks Bird

I'll hold my appreciation until Bird's personal issues come to a resolution. He may very well get cleared of wrong doing, and he is innocent until proven guilty... but I'll wait.

The investigation of wrongdoing has been centered elsewhere.
