It's so obvious...

Many people complain that McGee is putting up pretty good numbers and therefore should be getting more playing time. However, when you look at the advanced stats, it's pretty obvious why he is not. Faried and McGee can't play together. They get shredded on the defensive end. Koufos is a good and smart defender that hides some of Faried's and McGee's weaknesses on the defensive end. So, since Faried has been playing better team defense, he is getting the lions share of the minutes, but it's hard to see the McGee/Faried pairing getting any more minutes unless they can shore up there team post defense.

Of course it is the defense, what surprises me is that so many people say they love the defense that Iggy bring, then complain that McGee does not get enough run while his defense is so bad. When the team defense and offense get worse the minute you step on the court, it is hard to justify more minutes.

I'm one that thinks McGee should be finishing games at center rather than Faried which makes no sense.

Ty-Iggy-Gallo-WC-McGee would be my finishing lineup. Koufos is a better post defender but McGee's presence alone forces opposition to take jumpers and Denver has 3 very good perimeter defenders.

Both however need more minutes. Playing Faried at center is one of the most absurd things ever.

Better than Gallo IMO.

I think we all agree that having a center on the court at the end of the game would be a good thing, personally I do not blame Karl for not trusting Mcgee in there at the end, but I think Koufos should be on the court at the end of every game, not only for his defense in the post, but also for his ability to catch and finish in the paint.

Agreed. Our center rotation is too good not have both of them playing roughly 20 minutes a night. There's just no reason to have Faried or Gallinari finishing games at center.

I think Koufos is a great guy to counterbalance McGee's shortcomings and to keep him focused. He was a great pickup in the Melo trade and the extension he signed last year is an absolute steal. But at some point, Karl HAS to release his reigns over McGee. Javale may never be the elite big man that he's capable of being, but he needs game experience to grow. We have so much money invested in him to be our long-term center and we're never going to find out if he's actually worth it if he's only playing 18 minutes a night.

I think McGee has value around the league and I'd like to see him on the block this summer. Otherwise for that kind of money he ought to be doing more to help the club win next year.

I'd be all for McGee going in the right deal and we go get the rights to this months EuroLeague MVP to replace him :)
