Seems Karl wanted an extension and Josh did not want to give him one, do not blame Josh, and think bringing in a new coach is not the worst thing when you bring in a new GM.

True although what kinda power will the GM have with Josh wanting to call all the shots?

Wow. I'm absolutely shocked, never thought this would actually happen.

There's a lot of questions surrounding this franchise right now, and for good reason. I sure wish Masai was around to answer them.

Chris Tomasson's twitter is interesting.

Sounds like they are just as pissed off about Karl as we are. I have faith in the management despite no Masai.

Thanks for pointing that out. If what Tomasson says is true, it sounds like management has the same opinions as just about every Nuggets fan on the internet.

Obviously Josh Kroenke has played a significant role in every move we've made since the Carmelo trade, so I have some confidence that he'll keep the team moving in the right direction. I'd like to see them promote D'Alessandro and leave it at that. No need to bring in someone from outside who may have a different philosophy on what to do with the roster.

if they promote d'alessandro. do you see them promoting welch to head coach as well? or do you bring in a whole new staff?

I guess I should have clarified, I was only talking about the front office there.

It sounds like Hollins and Shaw are the only guys on the radar to get the new head coaching gig as of now. I'd be pretty surprised if they promote Welch. Who knows what happens with the rest of the coaching staff, I assume that's up to whoever becomes the new HC. It seems like new coaches like to clear house and bring in their own guys. I'd assume everyone outside of Steve Hess and Jim Gillan is in danger of losing their job.

i haven't been on these boards long, but i've been calling for this move for pretty much the entire time i've been here. There has been alot of 'well who else is better to coach the Nuggets' but i think it's finally reached a point where everyone can see the major flaws in coach karl's style.

Man I would hate to be a Nugget right now, staff or player - how depressing.

This leads to a few issues:

-Why would Iggy want to re-sign here? Does he opt out hoping to land a contract somewhere else?
-CBrew was perfect for GKs system - is he a goner?
- which coach could do a better job with one of the youngest teams in the league?
-does the whole philosophy change now? Do we become a defensive orientated group and less focus on running?

i doubt the players care that much. heck....andre miller basically threw karl under the bus, saying he obviously got outcoached. they all know karl has always been a failure in the playoffs, just like we do. it would be way harder for them to play hard throughout the regular season again knowing he'll just drop the ball in the postseason....than it will be to play for a new (young?) coach and gm.

-iguodala was gonna opt out anyways. he said it in the middle of the season. players all go to where the most money is. if he opts out, and nobody's dying to get him and denver gets him on a reasonable contract....great. if not, i'm not gonna lose sleep over it. we're worse off overpaying an aging iguodala than we are letting him walk or doing a s&t.
-i hope corey brewer goes. the most inefficient player on the nuggets, who takes the most shots, and has no discipline for defensive principles.
-how do we know if they aren't given the chance?
-gosh, i hope so.

I asked Chauncey Billups about George Karl getting fired He brought up that Karl couldn't get out of the 1st round

"I was a little surprised by the timing of it,'' Billups told me about Karl being fired. "But you look at the whole big picture, when you can't get out of the first round, it's tough. It's tough.''

Karl failed to get out of the first round in eight of his nine Denver seasons. Billups was on the only Karl Denver team that did get out of the first round, making it to the West finals in 2009.

Chris Tomasson via Sulia

Without saying it, sounds like Chauncey thought Karl should have been fired, just sooner. Anybody else think Chauncey being with the Clippers might affect Karl's chance at that job?

This was not a strong point for Karl IMO. The young players did not respect him for the simple reason Karl did not respect his players. If he respected his players, he could not treat Brewer, Miller, McGee and Hamilton with such disregard for fairness. More importantly, the players could not respect a coach who was clearly not willing to do whatever what it took to win if it meant he had to compromise.

Now we are losing are top scouting guys, which is not good news to me considering how well the last couple of drafts have went.

There's more too:
Adrian Wojnarowski ‏@WojYahooNBA 55m
Denver's Mike Bratz is flying to Sacramento to finalize deal as assistant GM today, sources tell Y! He'll reunite w/ GM Pete D'Alessandro.

Not too surprising. I think most new GMs like to clear house and bring in their own guys. Still a bit worrisome that we're literally losing everyone though.
