Denver Nuggets
Best: Carmelo Anthony

No NBA championships for Denver. However, they did grab the Syracuse star with the third pick in the 2003 draft. The 6-8 forward can score and did just that in seven-plus seasons in the Mile High City before forcing a trade to the Knicks.

Worst: Mark Macon

In 1991, Denver grabbed Dikembe Mutombo with the fourth overall selection. Four slots later, it chose the Temple guard off a stellar college career. Only problem was, the 6-4 guard never progressed at the next level. He played two seasons in Denver before being dealt to Detroit and continuing a pro career that went nowhere.

Melo was good, but personally I think it was arguably McDyess or Mutombo were the better picks although technically he was a Clippers pick on a draft night deal for the Nuggets. McDyess was a great 2 way player that should have been a superstar, until the injury. Of course i think everybody knows about Mutombo and Melo.

As for the worst pick, I don't know how anybody could call Macon the worst pick in franchise history, on a team that drafted one of the biggest busts in NBA draft history. macon at least developed into a decent defender Skita was a higher pick and was terrible at the game of basketball, with no on court redeeming qualities.

Melo at three was a pretty no brainer. Doesn't make it a bad pick, but not sure you can call it the best ever. LaPhonso was another good pick at 5, whose career was shortend by injuries like Dice, but was a very good player before then. Dikembee could easily be the best draft pick ever by the Nuggets, just too bad they weren't smart enough to hold onto him. Literally set the franchise back a decade.

Skita is obviously the worst. Raef is another name that comes to mind, though he was at least mildly productive for a couple of years. At third overall he was drafted over a handful hall of famers (Dirk, VC, PP).

Mutombo was our best selection... and how he didn't stay in a Nuggets uniform a long time is still depressing.

I agree that Mutombo was the best selection that the Nuggets have made...and Skita was the worst by a country mile.

While we're reminiscing, I want the unis from that era back. The powder blue version sucks...
