Andre Iguodala signs 4-year/48m deal with Warriors

Post#1 » by DenverNugs » Fri Jul 5, 2013 8:22 pm

I'll post the link when it's up. My phone wouldn't let me copy/paste it now but it's official via @WojYahooNBA.

So where does the nuggets go from here? I think the nuggets did a solid job replacing Ujiri and Karl. Should the nuggets replace iggy with another FA? Or should they develop younger talents already in the roster like hamilton and fournier? The nuggets, when healthy, still has gallo and chandler to play SF anyway. Thoughts?

Warriors fan here, what can you guys tell me about Andre? I was a big fan of his near the end of his Philly days, but haven't really followed him the past year -- what are your thoughts?

He will probably be a very good fit for your team. He can play the three or the two. He will pair well with curry because curry can score, create, contribute on offense while iggy locks down the best perimeter player. He is not a star on offense but he doesn't hurt you either. He just won't press the issue on offense. If your team could swing it so that you keep curry and get Dwight/iggy then you should have a balanced team on paper. Offense/defense inside/outside key vets/young core. Just not sure what else it will cost you. Barnes? Lee? Klay?

He's an excellent defender. He will really benefit with the warriors with his attack to the basket type of play. I expect to see his apg to go up this season with curry and thompson in the backcourt. His offense is the weakest part of his game, very streaky. He could hit two straight contested threes and miss the next five wide opens. Good luck to you guys.

Thanks guys. Is he still a gifted playmaker? We could seriously use a bigger guy to make plays.

IMO we just facilitated a Bogut/Barnes swap for Howard in a sign and trade. Warriors will have Curry, Thompson, Iggy, Lee, Howard, while LA will have Nash/Kobe/Barnes/Pau/Bogut. Win win for both teams.

No use crying over this.

Have to decide what to do next. Do we try to get someone like a Milsap or do we enter the Wiggins sweepstakes. Personally, if Green ever shows he would be capable as a starter in the first few months of the season, I would unload Ty Lawson somewhere.

so we are expecting a 2nd round pick to become a capable starter his 1st year? Right now I am irritated enough to have no problem blowing up the team and tanking considering this team has no cap space and only their picks next few years, but let's not pretend that a 2nd rounder in a weak draft is going to become a capable starter in a couple of months.

I'm pissed because this guy duped us worse than Melo did. From the minute we traded for him, he gave the impression that he wanted to be here long-term. Also makes you wonder how different this team (coaching staff, front office and all) would look if we hadn't lost to GS in the first round.

On the bright side, Iguodala really didn't have a good year last season. He actually played well for what, maybe a third of the season? We were a really good team when he decided to be aggressive, but that was rare. The rest of the time, when he was passive as **** and played like a pussy, we were still pretty damn good.

I'm not all that upset or surprised by this move. I think him leaving is better than him staying for 12-14 mil a year for 4 or 5 years. Take away his hype he's a 13-5-5 above average defender with a lot of hype. The question is where will the Nuggets go. Reddick and Korver are already gone, so not sure who will be starting at the 2. With the current roster I don't think the Nuggets can tank enough to get high lottery pick. They're currently in a spot where they are too good to get a high pick but too low to contend. Either gotta blow it up some more or make some trades and build on the fly.

True bro. This is still a pretty competitive team. Hamilton and fournier will get major mins while gallo is out

Also Gallo won't be out for that long. Didn't he say he'd be ready to go be November? There's also reports of you guys going after Monta? That's a tiny but deadly back court (& I'm not even a Ellis fan)

Lawson-Miller
Ellis-Fournier
Gallo-Chandler
Faried-Arthur
McGee-Mozgov

That's still a very good team (w/ Ellis pending). He would give you guys that go to scorer that is needed & would allow the bigs to run around, dunk, rebound, play defense lol. That's a definite playoff team, just don't know where cause every year the West is just insanely tough.

i'm not worried about this.

it was a lot of money for a player which is worse than Gallinari; lot of money for a role player.

If you re-sign him, you need to clear space trading other players.

I'm very excited to watch Fournier and Hamilton playing. And Wilson too, with the Gallo's injury.

I think we have a very young & talented team with a very good coach.

Only we need to trade Miller, and get a combo guard (nate? jack?) to complete the roster.

Ellis off the bench doesn't sound bad

I agree losing Igoudala is not the worst thing in the world, and to be honest I am okay with him not taking the Nuggets higher offer, as I still say that $12 million was the max he should have gotten. My problem is the lack of sign and trade, I would have thought they could have gotten something for him in a sign and trade, but then with Utah willing to take that much salary for a couple of crappy picks I guess there is not much you can do.

As long as you do not care about Defense or fit it sounds great.

Actually, there's a very good chance that the Nuggets will end up with a $10M+ TPE from Iguodala. The Nuggets would either do a S&T of Iguodala to the Warriors, or it would become a 3-way trade with the Warriors and Jazz where Jefferson would be effectively traded for a S&T Iguodala, and then Jefferson along with the Warriors' draft picks would be routed to the Jazz.

In both cases, the Nuggets would receive a TPE. Jefferson's salary is $11.046M, but I think some min contract (less than $1M) needs to be involved in the trade(s), so at least $10M TPE to the Nuggets. Having the $10M TPE would allow the Nuggets to sign someone with cap space without needing to renounce any available exceptions (MLE, BAE, TPE) or having to renounce any FAs the team holds. It would also allow the team to acquire a player and go over the cap up to the size of the TPE.
