Since when do you get arrested for yelling at your girlfriend and breaking a phone? Just about everybody I have ever met has done that while fighting with their significant other.

Seems like this was blown out of proportions. The Arapahoe County Police Department sure does like the media of late. First Von, now Ty.

Had Ty Lawson gotten physical with her this would be a different story. It seems... Ty Lawson understands there is a line that you do not cross.... unfortunately not everyone in the NBA understands that... cough Jason Kidd.

I should not say that everybody has broke a phone, for me it was a remote for the TV that I threw against the cement wall in the basement while arguing with my then girlfriend and now wife. I regretted it as soon as I did it, but it was better than what I had thought about immediately prior to throwing the remote.



Now with the new story that he would not let her get into the closet and was throwing her clothes around, that makes more sense on why he was arrested, but this is Ty Lawson we are talking about, he has no idea how to block someone from going where they want.

They got arrested because mommy called the police. If this chick believed Lawson to be dangerous or violent at all she would have been trying to leave the house not "pack her clothes". I've gotten the belongings of a girl before in an abusive relationship. She ran out of the house and drove away in the evening and stayed at a friends house. Then an intermediary handled getting her stuff back.

What she did was about attention and it was a domestic disagreement between an emotional couple... one 6 months knocked up and hormonal. Lawson should get a slap on the wrist if anything. A little fine... make him sit out a pre season game or something.

But for non-violent guys this can be a lesson that even just being in the same room with an angry woman can be domestic abuse on your end. She reaches for her clothes from you or to take your cell phone... you block her from reaching at your person... a defensive action... and you are still going to jail for "pushing" her.

and i think he was living in a hotel because LaLa kicked him out

we had an ex-drug addicted on the team. who was then accused of possessing child porn.

we're pretty much unphased by a little spat between two lovers.

It is pretty sad how much has happened with the Nuggets over last decade, add in other incidences prior to that such as the Mahmoud abdul rauf protesting the national anthem, Van Exel openly leading a player revolt against the coaches mid season, not to mention the David Thompson drug problems, and then the on the court problems, and it amazes me that there are still fans like me around.

The Abdul-Rauf incident doesn't bother me at all. The KMart issues in 06... the Van Exel revolt... the on court melt downs... anything involving JR Smith LOL... all not cool. But I'd be fine if we could enjoy a game without the national anthem and all the thanking of god for success on the court/field. Granted Chris Jackson is just a bozo (who played til he was 42) for Gulfport MS who mysteriously found allah in 1991... but pro sports has athletes from all over the world with varying (or no) religion... so why not just play the game.

the Abdul rauf incident did not really bug me all that much, but the fact is it was a scandal for off the court crap that affected the team worse then Ty throwing his girlfriends phone in the water.

Well, if only he had done that to Iggy's cell phone.

this never would have happened if josh boy III didn't create so much reason for anger in ty lawson. its obvious he was just fed up with the organizations direction and the only way he could let it all out was throwing his girlfriends phone in the bathroom sink.
