10-6 @ Lakers

Post#1 » by pickaxe » Mon Oct 7, 2013 11:15 am

So, don't know how much preseason game one will tell us -but does anyone have observations about coach, new signings, big man combo with Mozzy, ....style of play?

My overall feel of it is the personality of the team is similar to last year -just spread among different players i.e. they made up easily for the loss of Iggy.

I know it's early yet certain elements of the team are clearly visible.

Preseason won't tell us anything but from that one game.

I noticed a lot less switching, which is really nice, nice to see a normal defensive system for once.

Offense seem to have slowed a bit with more emphasis on utilizing our bigs.

Hard to get a feel for Shaw's rotations since he gave everyone minutes. I hope he makes Fournier and Hamilton regular rotation players. Both of them are ready.

Foye probably got the pre-season start nod because he's the vet & you don't want to ruffle feathers. As Hamilton clearly out plays him you would think this changes... hopefully

I'm really interested to see how Shaw allocates playing time. This team is just insanely deep, seemingly moreso than in previous years, and even without TWO starting SFs. You'd almost like to see everyone on the roster see the floor every night but that's just not practical. We really didn't get any hints last night of what the regular season rotation is going to look like.

I thought McGee's jumper was impressive. You can definitely tell he's been working on that this summer but you have to hope he doesn't fall in love with it. As for Faried, maybe he was just shaking off the rust but it seemed like he was really forcing it every time he touched the ball. And as well as Hickson played, you have to wonder if he's a better match to start alongside McGee. Faried seems to fit better next to Mozgov.

All things considered, you can't take much away from the first pre-season game -- hell, I'm not sure you can even take much from an entire pre-season worth of games. Either way, I think we have plenty to be excited about and I'm looking forward to the next game tomorrow.
