So, what did you see that you liked in last night's loss?

Yes, I know. It is "just" an exhibition game and the Shaw is just trying to install his offense and defense and find out who he thinks will deserve rotation play.

But there was so much NOT to like.

First and foremost was the PG play. Again we know that many think Paul is the best PG in the league. That does not change the fact that he and fell 6'0" PG Collison annihilated their similarly sized counterparts Lawson and Miller, 67 points in 73 combined minutes to 22 points in 63 minutes. Which brings up the question, why was Dre, by far, the leader in minutes played? Was it because he is the only PG that could run the offense, with 7 assists to 0 TOs compared to 3 assists and 5 TOs for Lawson?

Then there was the good and bad scenario of Fournier's play. Good, because he was 6-9 shooting with 3-4 on 3s for 16 points while chipping in with 3 assists. Bad, because in just 19 minutes of play, he led the team with 7 rebounds while all of the frontcourt players who played got from 4 to 9 more minutes and couldn't get more than 5 boards.

Also, Foye's continued poor shooting, particularly his 3 point specialty, will hopefully find him sitting on the bench watching Fournier start at SG.

Then there was McGee who has yet to show he is in any way deserving of being handed the starting center job with Mozgov not looking to be that much worse a choice.

I guess everyone would just attribute the 22 TOs to everyone getting to know each other as well as getting comfortable with the offensive scheme but it still does not bode well for Ty to only manage 3 assists to 5 TOs.

As I prefaced this critique, I understand that it is just pre-season. I still find ironic, with all the change of philosophy and new players, to watch a game in which the Nugz score 111 points yet lose while shooting just 6-18 - that "dreadfully weak" 33% - from 3 point range.

Fournier.

He's proving that he should start at SG.

I liked that another preseason game finished and we took one step closer to the regular season.

Big surprise, you're not happy about something.

You list things like our terrible shooting and bad turnovers as things that worry you, and rightfully so. However, how about the fact that even with the poor shooting and all the turnovers, we came very close to beating a pretty good Clipper team that is supposed to be MUCH better than us. Chris Paul had 40pts and 11 assists and we still almost won.

Of course you forget to mention that we were without Kenneth Faried, Wilson Chandler, Nate Robinson, Darrell Arthur, and of course, Gallo. And we STILL almost won.

You don't mention that Quincy Miller had a great game. Even Anthony Randolph had a great game.
You do mention Fournier having an awesome game, but of course, only to somehow to turn that in to a negative and talk about our poor rebounding. God forbid you see the good in something. BTW, I thought Mozgov had a great game and other than this last game, I think McGee has been playing much more under control and overall quite impressively. Actually, I think everyone has noticed McGee's improved play, except you.

So just to recap, we played a very good Clipper team. A clipper team that has two all stars (which we don't have), a coach that is considered one of the best in the league (which we don't have), and didn't really have any injuries (which we had plenty of). We still only lost by 8 in OT.

Stop trying to nitpick every f**king thing and stop being so pessimistic about everything. We're probably not going to win as many games as last year, I think most would agree with that, but who the f**k knows what'll happen? Let's just wait and see and stop bitching about every little thing..

Besides how well Fournier played, he also impressed me with his Mario Cart noises. http://probasketballtalk.nbcsports.com/ ... rt-sounds/

Oh and most of the Chris Paul going off from what I saw just in highlights, seemed to be mainly Andre Millers inability to cover anyone man to man anywhere but the post. Guys like Paul and Collison will eat him alive every day with their speed. Besides Dre's shooting, that is his biggest weakness which becomes more and more a problem the older he gets.

I agree about Dre.

While there definitely are teams out there who could use him effectively as a backup, the only reason that makes sense with keeping him, which seems just wrong in accordance with the other off season moves, is to have a smart veteran player who was here last year.

That does not seem to be a good enough reason by itself, to me.
