Gallo to miss rest of season with ACL surgery

wasn't there some kind of issue on whether he actually tore his ACL?

can someone clear that up for me.

my offer still stands. I'll give you guys a 1st round pick in 2017 for this guy.

what a fantastic way to start my day.
Feel horrible for Gallo though. It must be driving him nuts knowing he can't get back out sooner especially with all the work he's put in already. Hopefully this helps him come back stronger than before.

Probably going to hold onto him and see what the 2014 draft brings, but he's going to be worth much more than a 1st round pick unless it's the Buck's pick for this year.

My curiosity is did the doctors pick the correct technique and did the rehab go properly. Under what circumstances are second surgeries required. Good to know.

Had a feeling he was going to miss the rest of the year, now just waiting on the announcement to shut down McGee.

I am a little concerned about the recovery time for this second surgery, Hopefully he'll be ready by the start of next year.

Well, 8 months of recovery time if he plans on taking part in drills and training camp.

Sounds like the 1st procedure was something to bring healing to the ligament and not an actual surgery on his ACL, now with this surgery I would think he should be back in time for training camp .

that being said the next question is what do the Nuggets do? Right now this team is not good enough to do anything in the playoffs even if they sneak in there as an 8th seed, is it time to trade everybody outside of Lawson, Fournier, Q. Miller, McGee (simply because you are not getting anything from him right now), and of course Gallo who is not going to bring anything worthwhile?

i don't get the feeling that we're likely to attract a big star name here. i see the best option is to work on that core of players, maybe supplement it with a few shooters, and work from within inside our team. maybe the knicks keep losing and we might get another nice addition over the summer, but that's about all i see happening.

i'd wish we could get a guy like monroe on our team though.

That is kind of my point, we are not getting big name free agents to Denver, but it is pretty obvious without Gallo this team is an average team. I am not talking about blowing it up for cap space but instead trading veterans for young talent/picks and 1 or 2 year bad contracts kind of reloading, while keeping Lawson, Gallo, and the young kids as your core, plus McGee if he actually improves. That is not a bad roster to start with, especially if Fournier and Q get some minutes and progress towards the players that many of us think they can be eventually.

I think it's time to move towards building the team Shaw wants. If he's going to succeed as our head coach the team obviously needs to be tailored to his style. Right now, it's obvious that it's not. I have no idea who Shaw would want, but i'd be prepared to move anyone outside of Ty and Fours to build the team Shaw needs. I may even move the draft pick.

I was having a pretty good day at work until I hopped on Twitter and read this ish.

I knew he never had full-blown ACL surgery back when but to hear that it was so invasive that a traditional ACL surgery needed to be done now is a gut-check. Realistically I didn't think he would be able to provide that much this season anyways but no we're looking at 8-9 months until training camp, meaning we're lucky if he's participating in that or able to start the season off.

Going to agree with Rebel, Nuggets should put everyone on the block and see what picks or long term cap relief they can dig up.

I'm dreading Feb. 3rd - when all of my sports attention focuses back on the Nuggets and this hell of a season.

I'll just echo what everyone else has said in here. This team clearly isn't going anywhere without Gallinari, there's no reason not to go all-in with the younger guys (Fournier, Q, Ham) and give them as much playing time to develop as possible. If it means dumping guys like Foye and Hickson, so be it.

Veterans are supposed to be the leaders on and off the court, setting an example and mentoring younger players. There plenty of evidence to show that Miller is not that type of veteran. I think the only teams where Miller wouldn't complain about playing time would be one that has a seriously legitimate chance at a championship..so we're down to 2, 3 teams. Do you think any of those teams need Miller?

Rumors were out there that the Kings, Knicks, and Warriors were all making offer for Miller, 2 of the 3 still have no answers.
