So how do you like me NOW ?

I was wondering what your thoughts are of Tim Connelly at this point. I gave him a pass/incomplete on last years draft, coming in new and all, but this year he knew the team and had a lot of time to prepare. Given his first year trade out of the first round, it seems a bit skiddish, thought he wasn't prepared. His trade was a bit of a surprise as I was looking to possibly get Erick Green at the 27th pick, he got him at 46th + cash. I was a bit stunned with his trade of Koufos, but DA and what looks to be a steal at 55th pick, Jofferry Lauvergne (albeit I didn't give that a 2nd thought at the time).
This year he had time to prepare, had a very decent position and he came away smelling like a winner of the draft. I give him an A so far, especially getting another roster spot and obtaining a 2015 2nd which we got pulled from us earlier.
Masai got a lot of credit and kudos, even got EOY, but I think we may have gotten an equal or better guy in TC
How about your thoughts ?

I give him a C right now, he did a good job in the last draft, but terrible last summer between the draft and free agency. Plus he was brought in to help take this team to the next level, Afflalo and a couple of end of the bench rookies are not the guys to ensure they are better than that 57 win team

Need to see how the draft picks turn out and what he extends Faried for.
The signing of Hickson is pretty terrible.

TC's moves up to last week were a C- in my book. I concede Last off-season he was thrown in a bad spot. However he was on the job long enough to handle the Dre Miller situation better.
His moves this past week I give a solid B, I'm not a big fan of grading drafts before players see the pitch.
Overall he seems to be on the right track, we'll see.

Wow thank you, that adds so much to the conversation
Well, I like his willingness to make moves, much as Ujiri did. Heard many didn't like the 11 for 16/19 trade, but I think we got 2 #11 picks for one. I had seen both Harris and Nurkic listed as possibilities at 11 (or higher) in several mock drafts, even saw McBuckets as low as 17. Say what you will, I see it as a win.
Same thing last year, I saw Green going at #27 or around that yet we got him at 46, paid less and got to stash him overseas when we didn't have any roster spots, .....win-win.
Do we have a superstar yet ? Still....no. But we continue to build talented depth, tell me a deeper roster in the NBA ?

I never understood why TC got so much hate from Nuggets fans. He was dealt a pretty ****ty hand when he was hired and I don't have a huge problem with any of his moves. The Hickson signing doesn't look good but it's not like he's worthless and untradeable. In a perfect world, Nate Rob would have played out the season, proven he's worth more than his current contract, opted out and gotten a raise from another team. Alas, ACLs happen. Foye was a good pickup and I'd say the Koufos/Arthur trade was a win. We've yet to see how his draft picks pan out but Connelly climbed the NBA ranks as a scout, that's gotta mean something.
Maybe we were just spoiled by Masai but even some of his recent moves have been head scratchers. He made plenty of mistakes here too.

I'll give him a C because he was dealt a rough hand to start. The way he handled the Miller situation was a complete joke, but he made up for it a bit with the Afflalo/draft day trades.
One thing I worry about is his infatuation with Euro League players. It's easy to fall in love with guys who are dominating teams who would get destroyed by Division 1 teams. For the most part Euro League players have been busts.
Having said that, Nurkic could be a gem if he works on his conditioning.

I haven't read anything negative about trading 11 for 16/19.....That being said you can't over-praise someone for acquiring players that have yet to play.

Well, sure it is a bit of an unknown, and if Harris and Nurkic both (or either) flop and McBuckets goes on to be a star, but same could go the other way too. I just appreciate they way he's been going about his business, seems like a lot of value move (other than Hickson, and even that deal isn't killing us)

Wait so you're saying it was a person that commented on a story about the trade? None of the seasoned posters on here or the big names at denverstiffs, roundball had an issue with the deal. In my book that means many "liked" the deal.
As for the superstar issue any hack reported these days can write an article about how the Nuggets won't win big without a superstar. I'm tired of reading those articles. We all know the deal, next Nugget All-Star will almost certainly be home grown. At least some moves were made to make the team better. I'd rather have that than an empty roster and a Lebron pipe dream.

Deep roster. You mean like San Antonio has or something?
But yeah. I'm so thrilled for turning most exciting NBA team into unwatchable crap team.
Of course signing terrible contract with Hickson was a little mistake but who cares. We drafted player and let him play in Europe. What a WIN!
No bad blood. I envy your enthusiasm for this Nuggets roster and GM. I'd like to be too.
But this team will be bad enough to have no shot for PO spot and still good enough to win top draft pick next year. I can't be happy for this. It's like go to sea and be sooo happy because whole week there was raining.

Maf, is your real name Debbie Downer ? No offense but all I see from you is negative, negative, negative !. At least I will take a look and see what I can see before I make judgements.
We agree on Hickson, not a great signing, but his contract is somewhat tradeable, probably as salary filler if nothing else. But he's here, put up decent offensive numbers ( which were offset by his lack of defense), but I did enjoy nights like when he put up 16 pts and 25 rbs against POR, his old team, that was fun ! Or how about his 13/20 against GSW, LOVED putting it to the Warriors ! Then again, I see his +/- is usually in the negative, but I do enjoy some of his outbursts, makes me think he has to have SOME trade value.
And I get you like slow-footed white boys who can shoot, McBuckets was your type of guy. Nothing wrong with that, I wanted LaVine, who we could have had too, to each his own. But to get two guys at 16 & 19 who I had previously seen as lottery picks on assorted NBA draft mocks makes me at least willing to see what we have BEFORE calling it a mistake.
As for the last PO portion of your rant, unless you know how we can get LeBron or Durant or another superstar the only real chance we have here in Denver is to build a deep team that has some talent.

Up until Chandler and Lawson both got hurt towards the end of the season this team was in the playoff hunt despite not having 2 starters, I would love to know how you figure this team does not even sniff the playoffs.

Many thought/expected both Gallo and McGee back at some point in that season, when it became apparent they weren't going to be, a lot of the winds dropped from our sails. Not saying we gave up, just the momentum we were carrying seemed to dissipate. I'm with you Rebel, I am looking forward to seeing what this team can do with a healthy roster, Shaw's system having been installed (and bought in by a few players already with some positive results), and the addition of new blood. We can go three waves deep with some above-average talent and the high-altitude (at least for 1/3 our games) I'd love to see Shaw just keep pushing this team to play at an upbeat defensive pace and see what happens
