@WojYahooNBA "Kenneth Faried has reached agreement on a five-year, $60 million extension with the Denver Nuggets, league sources tell Yahoo Sports"

Right Deal, value seems right glad to have him back, go Nuggets!

This is a bargain if Faried maintains his post ASB form.

But if we've taken everything into his career so far, this is arguably market value.

So I'm pretty happy with this.

The deal includes a partial guarantee in the fifth year that assures Faried he will make no less than $52 million over the life of the contract, sources said.

great deal for both sides.

one less thing to worry about for the Nuggets and not that Faried hasn't been giving it all since day 1, but he should have a great mindset to perform like he did in April.

Update

http://probasketballtalk.nbcsports.com/ ... um=twitter

Kenneth Faried didn’t sign a five-year, $60 million contract extension.

He couldn’t have.

Despite Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports reporting the contrary, extensions to rookie-scale contracts – with one exception – can be for just four seasons. The exception is when a team makes someone its designated player by giving him a five-year extension to a rookie-scale deal, but designated players must receive a max salary and 7.5 percent annual raises.

For Faried to be the Nuggets’ designated player, based on the NBA’s projected 2015-16 salary cap, his five-year extension would be worth about $89 million – far more than the reported $60 million.

So, something is getting lost in translation here.

Here are three possibilities for the actual terms:

Five-year, $89 million extension

Maybe Wojnarowski has the number of years correct and the dollar amount wrong.

Faried will make $2,249,768 this season, the final year of his rookie deal. His extension would begin in 2015-16, a season with a yet-to-be-determined cap.

Any max contract extension does not have a known salary until the July before that season begins. Perhaps, $60 million was just a really poor estimate of a five-year max contract contract that begins in 2015-16.

Four-year, $60 million

Maybe Wojnarowski has the dollar amount correct and the number of years wrong.

Again, simple enough, just one incorrect figure.

A four-year extension is the longest legal extension under the max – and $60 million should fall under the four-year max, which projects to be $68,985,747.

Four-year, $57,750,232 extension

Maybe Wojnarowski was referring to the total value of Faried’s contract – one season on the rookie deal, four seasons on the extension.

If that’s the case, Faried’s extension would be $57,750,232 over four years ($60 million minus his 2014-15 salary of $2,249,768 ).

That means his average annual salary during the extension would be $14,437,558 – a healthy bump over the $12 million per year it seemed Denver would be paying him.

This is my best guess for the mix up, but it’s just a guess.

With the salary cap set to skyrocket under the new TV deals, it seemed the Nuggets got Faried for a great value. It was just too good to be true.

Interesting, if Woj got it wrong it will be 1 of the few times I have seen it.

If they got Faried for $12 million a year that is going to be solid contract.

I have no idea what the new tv deal and/or CBA means for this, but if the reported 5/60 is true, I can't complain. I'm just surprised this happened so soon, I thought he'd test the market for sure after that FIBA performance.

The TV contract is basically going to end up tripling throughout the term of the deal, considering that is a big chunk of the basketball related income most are expecting the average salary cap to be near $90 million within the next 5 years if all other revenue stays the same such as stadium advertising, local tv deals, ticket sales, and that type of stuff. Putting the average salary somewhere around $6.5 million for the players, or about 20% more than it will be next year. Reality is that the other revenue will continue to go up, I would say that within 5 years the cap should be right about $100-110 million a year, or about 40-45% higher than it is today.

Which in reality makes this a very good deal for the Nuggets. Had they waited, I speculate that Farieds agent would have wanted to do up past $15M easily. The rest is up to Kenneth to prove he deserves it, As has been said before, I'd be ecstatic if he played the whole season as well as he did post All-Star break, (or close to it). Get AA an extension and I'll be seeing a playoff run, 2nd round here we come !!!

Either Woj got some bad info or the Nuggets got close to a deal that isn't even possible based on the CBA. If the latter is the case that's a bit embarassing.

I wonder who gets the blame for this. Woj or the NBA front office. Woj is rarely wrong. If it's 12million a year I'm sold

Sounds like he'll get a 4/48 Deal+Incentives making him and Ty making the same amount. Ty and Faried are clearly the franchise players according to our FO.

I do think it's a good deal (Money-wise) but it seems a bit risky to stay with this run and gun game, as it hasn't worked for us in the playoffs in the last 8-10 years.

I'm hoping Faried learned a lot from Coach K and improves his D to make him worth being a Franchise player.

Team USA showing must help to raise this contract by at least 5% IMO.

I think this is a fair contract and would probably his prime price.

Looks like it is being reworked to 4/$50M, still a good deal IMO

Agreed, makes me trust Connelly even less and considering how bad he screwed up his 1st year with the team I really wonder if he has a clue about what he is doing.
