Ongoing Nuggets Trade Talk

Wanted to make a general thread for trade talk which will be amplifying in the coming weeks.

I saw that the Nets "Big-3" are all on the block. Once upon a time Deron was a better player than Ty but I wouldn't say that's the case today. Lopez could be an upgrade...however he can opt out in the summer so he wouldn't be worth moving good pieces for. Doubt anyone would desire Joe Johnson.

I might take a flyer on Deron if they took McGee and Hickson and sent back a pick or something for the extra year of salary, but with Lopez's injury history and johnson's age I would not want either of them.

Well, since the Nets have give most all their #1's to BOS, taking on an additional $22M for a a backup PG doesn't make sense unless we can move him next year.

Have to say are most trade-able assets are:

Timofey Mozgov - not really available at least while Nurkic & McGee are MIA
Arron Afflalo - Desirable to contenders, not the results we were hoping for
Kenneth Faried - not producing, new contract makes him difficult to trade
Randy Foye - when healthy, a nice spark off the bench, reasonable contract
Wilson Chandler - Versatile SF, still young and productive

Possibilities:
JaVale McGee - When healthy, athletic rim-protector, shot blocker and rebounder. Big contract makes it hard to deal
Nate Robinson - Instant offense, but size and rep may a detriment. Does have an expiring contract, which could help
Darell Arthur - Defensive PF who has a good stroke plus another expiring.

Most likely we'll be asking for draft choices and/or expirings.

Heard OKC is looking at Wilson Chandler, probably one of our top two players of this season, would you move him and what would his trade value be ?

I'd have to think a late teens-to early 20's 1st and a promising player.... at worst.

I have said for years that I would not trade Chandler for anything less than a late lotto pick, or similar value.

One deal I would look at would be something around Chandler for Reggie Jackson who goes to Milwaukee, who sends Henson to Denver. There would have to be some contracts sent out from the Thunder, so maybe they could add Perkins going to Milwaukee and a late 1st coming to Denver.

I think for the offense Shaw wants to run Henson has the potential to be a decent fit.

Here we go again.

Ok so the main problem is that we have 2-3 very important pieces recovering from injuries on the bench, some of those injuries not the original injuries. Mozzy gets dominated vs. Houston and a fully functional Gallo would have made a difference, and JaVale would have added presence but when is he going to have legs again.

It's just a huge hospital ward.

The best we can hope for is when we have the right pieces and everything is clicking not to go making stupid trades that handicap us further. Let's try to at least be smart about this if we even care about winning.

Gallo says he's fine and that he's not sure why he's getting the minutes he's getting.

Would anyone re-sign Afflalo? Personally I'm leaning towards against it.

Afflalo 2014:
Opponent FG% difference when he's the nearest defender for shots over 15 feet: 3.2 (they shoot 3.2% better when he's defending them)
Opponent FG% difference when he's the nearest defender for three-point shots: 8.2
Opponent FG% difference when he's the nearest defender for shots under 6 feet: 9.5
via SportVU

Opponent d-rating when he's on the court:
109.8
When he's off the court:
104.0

D-RPM:
-2.95 (71/79 for SGs)

Personally I would only keep anybody on the team if you do not fire Shaw.

Had to do a bit of interpretation here, but I believe you have two options here.

1. Keep Shaw and rebuild the roster to suit his style of play. Guess Nurkic and Harris might be the only players safe but trading a few players could make this quicker.

OR

2. Get rid of Shaw. Personally, I think Mark Jackson might be able to do a bit better with this roster, but I might question his past vs. this team....

Pacer fan here wondering about whether Lance would thrive in Denver under Shaw. Many credit Vogel and Bird for Lance's emergence in Indy, but it was really Shaw who inspired him to crash the glass and lead his one-man fast breaks. I think Denver has the floor spacing to accommodate Lance's game and the ability to get out and run with athletic bigs. He's struggling in Charlotte due to a lack of both of these qualities. The paint is clogged whenever he wants to drive and they resort to dumping the ball into the plodding Al Jefferson way too often.

What do you guys think? Could Denver be the place for Lance? What would you be willing to send to Charlotte in return? Lance for Gallo straight up works. I read recently that the surgeon who performed the procedure on Gallo's knee really botched it. Could this turn into a long term thing for him? With only 2 years left on his deal, maybe Denver would take this gamble with Lance, especially if Gallo isn't getting his minutes right now.

Nurkic hell no.

Afflalo for Stephenson straight swap I would do. Maybe Afflalo+Faried for Stephenson+Vonleh.

I would not trade Afflalo for Stephenson straight up, in fact I would insist on a 1st round pick to take him and his contract at this point.

Maybe Afflalo+Faried for Stephenson+Vonleh.

This is what I've been trying to figure out, but Faried's poison pill makes his outgoing value only about $2.25m while his incoming value is over $10m. Obviously this makes matching salaries very difficult.

Here's what I came up with: http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=ou7gokd

You guys would have to take on a couple minimum salary guys (hence Taylor and Pargo) via a trade exception (and you apparently have several of them) for it to work for both teams salary-wise.

I've come up with several variations of that trade but that's the basis of it.

Eh I'd say he's more what we need. A vastly superior defender than Afflalo. The difference on offense is to not let him shoot.
