Conductor & Floor General

Post#1 » by pickaxe » Sat Dec 20, 2014 1:12 pm

I'll tell you what I see.

I see the best assemblage of Nuggets talent that we will see here for at least another decade. I see another team ripping us off with a single trade and us falling right down to the bottom. Maybe we don't draft well even after that drop off.

But even if we get a new assemblage of Nuggets and we like it, who is to say we won't get an even worse coach? Or end up with a new cancer on the team?

What we need is a conductor. Ty Lawson needs to change one part of his game and that is how he becomes the lightning rod of the team. All energy needs to flow through him. He needs to pick guys up when they lag, sense uneasiness in the crowd and create plays to restore confidence, be the most confident guy in the room.

He needs to be Allen Iverson 65% of the time and the selfless Ty just 35% of the time. When his team sees him dive to the floor to retrieve a ball, they're gonna respond better. When he just takes over and goes in to score, he needs to make himself the first priority. Get guys to cut to the basket with him. Layup or drop it off for a dunk. Mid range. Whatever he can make happen. And when he scores a couple in a row, get someone else involved. Then get someone else involved.

I like when I saw Chandler hit a three, then Gallo hit a three on the very next possession. That had a lot of good energy to it. Can't fight that.

Above all, there's a bunch of loose energy floating around Pepsi and it's kind of grabbed at randomly. People playing individual notes that go nowhere.

Ty needs to conduct! The Maestro.

Or we can keep hittin bad notes. :banghead:

So in other words you want Ty to totally transform who he is and always has been, into a hall of fame player that was known for being selfish?

How about a coach that will design a coherent system that does not depend on Ty playing 45 MPG so that he can actually have energy by the end of the game.

Yes, I want Ty to be selfish. He is so well known for being unselfish that 90% of the time the opponent can guess what he's going to do. He didn't start out like A.I. but he can lean that direction and it will rebalance his game.

Idk I already complained about Shaw. I thought dismissing GK was silly when GK proved he could improve. We have Shaw and we either need to lean on him or ask GK back.

Bring Aaron Brooks back. He had tons of energy. That would push the pg play over the top.

Tonight's game went downhill just as soon as Hickson came in. He was like a punctured tire.

Screens not tight at all. No boxing out. Stupid foul. He didn't get LeBron over, he's not going to get us over.

For all we can say about Faried, he's got the energy we need. Hell, Faried and Gee can keep the entire motor running together. I don't see hustle anywhere else. DA is good energy too.

We could bring Brooks back. If we're talking about a boost of energy and an outside perspective .....that would be a great short term sign again.

I'm not going to complain about Shaw because I didn't clamor for him to usurp Karl in the first place. I can support him while he's here though. Anyone got any legit ideas to replace him I'm all ears.

Brooks is in Chicago, and while their fans seem to love or hate him depending on the week, I doubt they are in a hurry to trade him.

You let guys like DA, Gee, and Faried rule that floor and you're going to see consistent defensive energy. Have to have a guy that's going to be out there and focus on that. Trendsetters.
