i want to ask you all, are we commited to having ty lawson as our starting point guard going foward? in the western conference alone, i have ty ranked as the 9th best point guard (curry, lillard, conley, paul, parker, dragic. bledsoe, westbrook.) deron collison and rondo can make cases too. what do you guys think?

Looking at Ty, he is easily the best player on this team. He continues to add to his game, something that can't be said about 90% of the other players on this team. That being said, I think Ty has hit his ceiling or is very close, a lot closer to we are to contending. However, what I think you're missing about your list is that we need a strong PG and on most nights, Ty can go head-to-head with each of those PG's and hold his own, we fail at the other match-ups.
I have already gone on record as saying that I would LOVE to see us draft PG/SG D'Angelo Russell in the 2015 draft, even if we have to trade up to do it. He'd play off Ty until he can replace him. Ty's a very good PG, but he is not a go-to guy, he doesn't have the ability to take over many games, that's what is separating many of the above listed PGs and our supporting cast isn't capable of doing it either.
I do not think trading him at this point of his career is prudent to our team right now, we have other expendables that could be traded to help our rebuilding process faster. Ty provides good leadership and unless we get a jaw-dropping offer, he's worth more to us than to what we could obtain for him.

He's on a mega cheap contract, so yes.

Depends on what the plan is for the team, if the plan is to blow it up and rebuild than you may as well trade Lawson as well. Undersized PGs that depend on athleticism and speed seem to drop off a cliff around 31 years old, or 20,000 minutes played. At his current rate both will happen in about 3 1/2 years meaning that a total rebuild, even if it everything went perfect in the rebuild it will take at least 2 years before the playoffs should even be a consideration, reality is 3 or 4 is much more likely.
While I disagree with the OP, in that I think Lawson is arguably better than Bledsoe, dragic, and Conley, I do think he is going to have to go if the plan is to rebuild.

No reason to not be committed to Ty. There's something else not right with this team and it probably affects Ty more than any player.
And still he goes out there and produces. Imagine if these guys were winning.
