We aren't winning an nba championship this coming season. So do we do what we've done the last 5 years and put together a team to compete for a title they have no chance of attaining or do we take a page out of Philadelphias book and tank to get a high draft pick for next years draft?

Rather than fighting for the last playoff spot in march, id be much more content if our playoff hopes ended in November/December. The top teams have the top players and the worst teams get the future top players for a guranteed 6-8 years. Middle teams like Denver, phx, etc cross their fingers and hope next season doesn't turn out like the previous 2 seasons with little to no roster improvements worth mentioning.

If you would've asked me in 2011-2012, i would've guessed that danilo and Lawson would each be over 18-19ppg and faried would be more of a force. Those 3 players are who i consider our current core. Its 2015 and i dont think either of the 3 have improved that much. Lawson has stepped it up a bit but i think it was only due to him not having danilo which forced him to be more aggressive than he usually is. He doesn't even want to be in Denver at that so i feel like we need to bite the bullet and blow it up now.

If we don't blow it up this season (15-16), i forsee the team blowing it up by 19-20 season. I just feel as though why not take care of the inevitable now as opposed to later?

Whats yours guys take on our teams outlook? I won't rebuttal what you guys think lol just intrested in what other nugget fans take is on the matter.

3 things will shape the outlook of this team....Coach, Draft Pick, roster moves....

"Blowing it up" is easier said than done. You shouldn't just trade away all your talent for .50 cents on the dollar just because you want to start fresh. I'm all in favor of the Nuggets continuing a youth movement, maybe trading a vet or two for a draft pick this year but I'm not on board for a philly style tankathon year after year. Some fans might be brainwashed into thinking that plan will eventually work but I'm not buying it at all. Plus we're in the west, we have to build through FA as well.

You talk about not wanting to fight for the 8th spot...but isn't that what an up-and-coming team in the west will have to do? You're not just going to magically jump from a high lottery pick to the 5th seed. The question is are we fighting for the 8th with a young squad or the same "core" we've had for years. I'd prefer the young squad.

I'd prefer to have a competitive team with some solid young players going into 2016 and make a run at the best 2nd tier players available. As it stands now the Nuggets are going to have to spend at least $50 mil in 2016. I'd rather it be on young upcoming talent than wilted vets that are riding the bench because we're in tank mode but still meeting the salary floor.

I agree exactly with PB, I don't think a total blow up is fair to the fans, as well as unnecessary given our position. Retool over a 2-3 yr period is much better than a 5-6 yr period when you don't even know what you'll have in 5 years. I like to watch the young guns develop the chemistry with the team, determining what is working and what needs to change.

Some pieces need to go, namely Lawson. I'd love to see if traded by the draft to get another high pick but by the trade deadline if it works out that we can't get good value. We should have a solid player coming in this draft (maybe more if trades happen), a solid-to-potential-star in next years (along with what could be a decent pick if LMA leaves) as well as two picks in 2017. That should build a solid core if the FO drafts well.
