TC is quoted as saying Denver needs an "Alpha Dog", interesting review about that statement.

Found it interesting that it was said we came very close to signing Bosh....

thoughts on who could become our Alpha Dog ?? Russell ? Mudiay ? Only if we get some luck from somewhere....

You should never draft someone planning on them being your alpha dog, very few 19 year old kids can lead a group of grown men.

Also I have never seen anything indicating that Bosh is an alpha dog, in fact from all appearances he is far from it. He can put up stats, but what this team really needs is a true leader. The last one they had was Billups, and until they find one as well as a coach that understands how to put players in a position to succeed, than this team is just spinning it's wheels.

Drafting the 18yr old freshman whos physically stronger than the majority of grown men in the nba might be a start....

Physical strength can't change Johnson into LBJ just because you want it. He has to have superior basketball skills, and he hasn't proven that yet

Well then, sounds like 95% of the NBA is on exercise bikes then. And I do agree you don't draft 19yr old EXPECTING them to be alphas, but you DO pick guys who look to have that trait. I agree with Les that Russell look to have that "IT". Don't know about Mudiay, but I know Lawson doesn't have it.

What did d'angelo Russell do against sj and arizona in the tornament? Nothing. Got locked up and eliminated

Johnson had RHJ and Kaleb to help him out, both NBA talent level talent, Russell did it by himself

He played a pac 10 team and aint do a damn thing. As much as you've brought up sj tournament play, youve failed to acknowledge that Russell was non apparent in the tournament. Whether we have the 3rd pick, 4th pick or 6th pick, the person we should be selecting doesn't change. We dont need an 180lb guard. Especially if were replacing Russell with Lawson. We trade a short guy for a skinny guy. Lateral move. Let these other teams have fun with mudiay and Russell. If we get sj, it'll be the equivalent of when the pacers got paul George with the 13th pick. Put sj at the sg and our team is worth talking about again in his rookie season. Simple

Well, the only thing I've ever said about SJ's tournament is that he didn't help his stock, so I'll just take that as another generic statement.

So you're saying you'd pick Johnson wherever we pick ???? MAN-CRUSH !! So far I've seen you compare him to LBJ, now PG13....great, we know who you want to draft, seems we'll have a more interesting conversation in about a year.

Physical strength does not make someone an alpha dog, it is mental toughness and leadership ability that are the most important factors. You are not going to get a fully developed leader out of the draft, you may get someone with those characteristics but it is far from that simple.

If he's so ALPHA, how come he isn't getting on the floor the PT for his Euro...I believe he can he a star player and great scorer, but I don't see him as a leader.

16 minutes a night for Mario. Ante Tomic led the team with 23 minutes a night. Pretty darn impressive for the 19 year old on a team that could beat some NBA teams right now. He'd have beasted in college. If he was Gary Eagle of Indiana U you'd be drooling. All of America would be drooling... especially league owners and GMs. But sadly for his marketing potential... he has a z in his name.

But since he's a Euro, you have all the drool on you (clearly). I Am excited to see what he capable of from what I have seen on video I LOVE this guys potential as well as the prospect of teaming him with Nurkic. But all this gushing between you and Stan is over the top IMO, let's wait to see who (and where) the Nuggets select before the love fests begin.

I dump on the foreigners I don't like as well when people jump on their bandwagon. But yes I do get a lot of calls right, particularly Schroeder before he showed up on any board I called him a 1st round pick. So it pays to watch the entire globe, so you have some real perspective.

Mario Hezonja has generational talent.

got more bust potential than anyone since Thabeet. And that inculde guys such as Derrick Williamd, Wesley Johnson, Evan Turner, Thomas Robinson

really. really average player, that will end up in a Rudy Fernandez role until he goes back to Europe to rather be a big fish in a small pond

I do not see the higher bust potential from Hezonja than anybody else in this draft, in fact I think he is one of the safer picks, he has the competitive fire that is needed to succeed.

Also Fernandez was pretty good his rookie year before he screwed up his back, people act like he was terrible and he was far from it before he got hurt.
