First option - according to rumors - has Nuggets doing everything possible to get DeMarcus Cousins which includes giving up the 7th pick. This would definitely put Nurkic on the shelf for several years or see him traded.

But it doesn’t end there. Joe Kotoch of SheridanHoops.com is taking it a step further. According to Kotoch, the Nuggets are trying to get the Kings on board with the idea of trading DeMarcus Cousins to Denver in exchange for some variety of Ty Lawson, Kenneth Faried and Denver’s first round pick ( No. 7).

The other option seems to be transforming the Nuggets into a Caucasian Euro team by drafting Mario and bringing Jokic over to go with Nurkic, Gallo and Joffrey.

Or, maybe, both.

I think Cousins could play PF, so we could go with Collison, Barton, Gallo, Cousins, Nurkic maybe? And if we get Crawford for Chandler, he could be our 6th man..

I don't think that starting 5 would be one that Malone would look at as being viable defensively or, for that matter, al that good for an uptempo pace. . Do you?

Playing Nurkic and Cousins together may create a floor spacing problem. I would much rather play the center we have (nurkic or cousins) with a floor spacing big.

Cousins would be the problem with an uptempo pace, as obviously he did not seem happy with it in Sacremento, Nurkic has the foot speed and the 15 foot jumpshot to be the trailing big on the team, Collison and Barton have always been at their best running, and Gallo is fine either way.

However this rumor came from Sheridan Hoops, so be very careful of believing it too much.

I understand, but even though I'm hopeful that choosing Malone will turn out well, I have very little faith in Kroenke's player decisions.

So, what about going the other way?

If they do bring Jokic over and draft Mario, trade Faried and Lawson, they might, depending on who they pick up, end up bigger but looking even less like the Dubs model.

I think the rumor for picks is totally bogus, the rest is speculation, although the Denver local radio guys sure ran with it earlier, and I do not think that Lawson, Faried, the 7th overall pick for Cousins is as far off as some are acting.

the only way you do this deal is if you add in Chandler for Collison, as while I do not really like Collison as a full time starting PG, he would have to come back though as this would leave the Nuggets with no starting PG and limited resources to get another one.

I do think that could be a decent team though, although I do not like the backcourt a front line of Gallo, Jokic (jumpshooting big, good rebounder, and decent defender), and Cousins could be very good, especially with Nurkic off the bench.

I'd prefer to go this way, we don't have to look exactly like the dubs, just have to grow our players into their primes at the same time like the dubs did.

Cousins has 3 years left on his deal, which only gives the Nuggets 2 seasons to build up enough of a squad around him to convince him to sign an extension. If you can't get that done we have a Melo situation all over again and we risk losing DC for nothing or we trade him for pieces and end up back where we started. I don't know if we can climb back up as fast as we fell.

While he is young-ish all players at his stage want to win now and they show very little patience with teams that aren't geared to their liking. Growing an all-star is harder than trading for one but at least if we grow one we can keep him around longer.

I agree 100% with this, and think we may have something special with Nurkic. Nurkic also seems like he enjoys playing for Denver which is a huge plus, and getting Hezonja would ensure Nurkic never leaves (Hopefully no more Melo situations in Denver!)
