Is it worth it for the Nugs kick out KP?

Why is it that we want to rebuild off of promising new talent and we just throw away a 25 year old rookie who looked like he could easily be a good role player if not better? I don't care about his salary and frankly I'm not seeing the correlation between Arthur and the nuggets so why sign him and get rid of KP. DA and the nuggets were a horrible match because he can't shoot and we need shooters. At this point I see Josh Smith as a better shooter... This really seems to me the most puzzling move of the off season because I've been on board with everything else that's happened. I still wish KP the best of luck where ever he lands.

That move is questionable as well. If anything, KP should've been kept on the roster given his skills get . I didn't think the Nugs are hurting salary cap wise to have this need to cut salary. Not a wise move for the rebuilding teammates.

From my count the Nuggets still have 16 guaranteed deals on the roster, and Kostas was going to be at best 3rd or 4th on the depth chart with little to now playing time. The plan was always to cut him or trade him, obviously there is not a whole lot of interest in the guy around the league. For all the hype he gets the guy has terrible stats and advanced stats are worse for him, in fact I wonder if he even gets another conntract offer to stay in the Nba.

I understand that but the number of players stay the same if you decide to sign a player (DA) and then cut one off the team. I would have rather just kept him and and not signed DA

They traded for his contract, so they could cut it. Obvious isn't it! He isn't needed and they have plenty of young players that will need playing time.

They didn't cut him! They could, but, why cut him before Oct 4? His deal is not guaranteed before..

If you know that you are releasing him for contractual purposes, why wait? Give him a chance to latch onto another team before training camp begins. It's all about his contract. No need to burn any bridges; maybe you try to sign him later for a cheaper deal, if you really want him. With his present contract, you don't give out that much money for what little performance he has shown so far. He is not a great shooter and not a great defender. There are plenty of prospects on cheaper deals already with the Nuggets and the Nuggets have no empty slots at this moment.
Besides, where are you going to play him. Gallo and Chandler are 3's. I think Kp is a stretch 4 but the Nuggets now have Jokic and the Frenchman Lauvergne who look like real prospects and good shooters, likely stretch 4's who can also play center. Arthur is more of a defensive power forward and helps balance the roster at power forward. Faried, he looks to start at pf going into the season. Where is the room on the roster? It's business and the players know that.

Why pay an extra $5m when you have the SF position well covered with Gallo & Chandler ?? Does the bench need an extra 235lbs for $5M to keep it clean ?

They likely cut him to re-sign Arthur which in my book is a bad move, but whatever, I guess they thought they had invested a lot of money and playing time in the Fs already.
Still, Papanikolau is a solid talent and should've been kept, he will be better going forward than Arthur.

he will get a ton of offers, but he probably will go backto europe because he can get 2-3m euros with lower taxes playing for turkish teams.

It's easy to say Kostas will be better than Arthur going forward, but will he be better for the team if he is sitting on the bench behind Gallo and Chandler ??? DA is a solid vet and will provide leadership that KP probably won't.....DA will provide better defense when called upon than KP will. Will DA cost less than KP ??? probably
"Better" is determined by needs just as often as by talent.

I'm very disappointed we decided to part ways with kp, I think he could have developed into a nice player for us. The front office probably knows more than I do though, so it was probably the right move.

Rumor says that nuggets we're going to waive Kostas but Chris Dempsey reported that they haven't yet done it. And because his contract isn't guaranteed until October 4th, the nuggets are going to take a good look at him during the Eurobasket and training camp to see how he's doing before they make the decision to waive him
