“[Malone and myself] did a lot of talking,” Gallinari said to Mark Woods during EuroBasket 2015. “Same with his senior assistants. I talked to everybody. We’ll be a run-and-gun team, that’s what we need to do in Denver. Run more than the others. It’s going to be tough in the Western Conference, but if we stay healthy, I think we have the chance to do something nice.”
“I believe with playing fast but more importantly to me is playing with efficiency,” Malone said.
Unlike with Brian Shaw, I AM fairly optimistic about Malone as the new coach.
I am also happy to hear that they are going to play uptempo. And I definitely expect that he will insist on better team and man D.
I assume his comment above about play with efficiency refers to the past two years under Shaw who, for much of that time did not emphasize the uptempo style of George Karl.
I do believe that if the offense can simply return to the efficiency and productivity of Karl's last year while making a reasonable step forward defensively, the Nuggets can be the surprise team of the WC this year.
