Nuggets fought hard tonight. Missing 3 rotation players on the wing. I liked the energy from the team. Even when they got down, they just kept competing. They might just yet steal that eighth seed.

Jokic was a man in the paint. He is an outstanding offensive player and his ability to get bigs in foul trouble is going to be a weapon going forward because like Harden, he'll get the team into the bonus faster.

He's been hustling on defense. Some of those plays weren't so good, but with what little he's played - it's not surprising he's making mistakes on defense. I think overall, he's hustled better than anybody else the Nuggets have (on the defensive end). He even grabbed some rebounds. Loving this guy!

No minutes for Beasley - he must be someone the Nuggets aren't interested in developing. This was a no-contest - the perfect time to play the young guys.

It was nice to see Miller play for a while.

Nurkic got only 13:32 - doubt he's very happy.

It is no secret that I love what I have seen from Murray, Hernan-Gomez has some talent but is really a PF in a packed front court, and Beasley is just stuck behind Murray and Barton (who is actually a very high quality 6th man type), and of course Malone's favorite in Nelson.

That is only partly on the coach who's 1st job is too win, but it is also on the front office. If the front office really believes in these guys they will start to move guys like Nelson and Arthur, open up a few more minutes for those guys to compete for without disrupting the team to much. Go get a young SF and a 6 mpg older veteran PG that can play more minutes when the young guys are struggling but has accepted he is not a 30 mpg nightly guy anymore. That will force the young guys into a spot to compete for minutes.

Of course I say that and then look at what Malone has done with Nurkic. With the way Nurkic was playing to start the season, there is no way he deserved to have his minutes cut to nothing like Malone did to him. Even with Jokic being a future franchise guy, he has only been playing on average 28 mpg, why play Faried there when he has a guy with as much talent as Nurkic has. Faried is fine playing with Jokic, put Nurkic with Hernan-Gomez off the bench, and both should work very well and give our 3 young very talented bigs solid minutes every night. You can always find a guy like Nene, who due to health is not able to play big minutes every night, but can play when called upon for a short time. He can be your depth, that you call on when one of the young guys is having a bad night or is not doing everything he can to earn the minutes.

That forces the coach to develop the young guys to win, and I still believe that the team would be better off doing that. Keep guys like Gallo, Chandler, and even Faried in the roles they have been in, make the real centerpiece Jokic, and let's see what they can do. When the Warriors forced their young guys onto Jackson is when that team started really improving, when the Raptors did it they started climbing up the standings, and the Nuggets have the chance to do it right now.

Didn't see the game last night but it looks like they played hard. Would (?) have been a little more interesting with Gallo and Chandler, will definitely watch the rematch in a couple of weeks. Heard Jokic scored 14pt in a row in the 4th, perhaps this was a bit of a learning-to-take-over-games lesson for him .

They tried it for some possessions, but Barton was simply too small and weak. Barton got almost all of his points when Kawhi wasn't guarding him. Kawhi has turned into too strong of a SF. You need someone with either extreme length or physicality to match up with him IMO. I thought all the same Hernangomez did a great job contesting. He rarely gets burn and yet, he still looked like he belonged out there.

True about Barton but he stood a far better chance of containing Kawhi than Hernangomez did Barton can at least stay in front of him.

There are a few of those rather unique SFs in this area of small-ball. The "elite-three" might be LeBron, Kawhi, Melo. Those three can play PF even against a big PF and then can play SF even against a quick SF (well, if Melo decides to play D )

That's ignoring Durrant, who is in a class of his own. But Kawhi is definitely strong, long, and quick - hard for almost anyone to play against on either end of the floor.
