Who would you give a max contract to ?

Ok, first guy that says Gallo gets banned and Curry, Durant, etc aren't going to come here. Any realistic guys you'd offer a max contract to ? I'd think about Otto Porter or Gordon Hayward....any others ?

I would offer Hayward the free agent max at 1201 and if he did not say yes by 12:05 I would offer Porter his max deal. Outside of that I don't know of any immediate needs that will be available that could fit the timeline of the rest of the team. Although my dream offseason would be to trade for Favors between now and the draft, adn then offer Porter the max this summer.

Here's a list....Can't think of any others than Porter and Hayward. Without a trade there's no room to sign anyone, esp with 1-2 first's being added.

Would Blake Griffin get an offer ? He's had injury problems but is still 27 ?? Doubt he'd leave LA but might be worth an effort if he is signed immediately.

I'd still make solid offer to Millsap but not a max, 3yrs is most I could see with him. Noel would be an interesting case but only if we trade Nurkic. Mason Plumlee is a RFA but with POR's salary cap he could be had at a reasonable price as well

With all the noise surrounding Paul Millsap, I think it may take a max contract to get him. Not sure where the FO will be on an offer when he becomes available but given that they tried to trade for him, you would expect a long look. At max, I would keep looking.

Love Favors; he's got 1.5 years left at a great rate. He's only 25. With his salary, it would have to be a one-for-one trade with Gallinari or Faried or Chandler - maybe Arthur plus.

I'd offer Porter first then Hayward or make them simultaneous and tell them first one to accept gets the max contract. Porter is 3 years younger and a little more athletic with a great wingspan. He plays both ends of the floor fairly well. On the other hand, Hayward is hard to argue against. His game is almost as complete and he plays both ends of the floor also.

Millsap would be a good fit with Jokic but he's a little on the old side.

KCP is worth a max deal but probably not in Denver due to Barton/Harris.

We need a PG so id just bid more for George Hill, Patty Mills, or Jrue Holiday than they are getting elsewhere. Shouldnt cost the max.

I like Hayward slightly more due to his passing ability, but I don't think he is very likely to come here unless he is traded here or the Jazz don't offer him a fair contract. I view the Jazz as a step or two ahead of the Nuggets right now, they have already figured out who their best guys are, and are trying to fill in around them. Gobert is their defensive star, Favors is not really a perfect fit next to him, they really need more of a stretch 4, so Favors is likely to be the odd man out if it comes down to the money. Harward is their star on offense, which is why they brought in Hill a veteran pg that can play on and off the ball, they brought in Joe Johnson to be a 2nd scorer, and moved Burks to their primary 6th man. Now injuries have derailed them especially this year, and I think long term Jokic is going to be the best out of the 3, but I doubt Hayward is interested in joining a different team in a similar size market, and a step or two behind the team he is on now. I think Hayward is very likely to stay in Utah, and if they don't than I think he goes to a team like Boston who has a team that he would fit on very well is already a solid playoff team with the money for a max contract.

Utah fans have said they would trade Favors for basically Chandler, a backup center type, and a future 1st. Don't know if they still feel that way, but if that is the price than the Nuggets can go find a young backup SF somewhere with arthur, Barton, and Nelson.

No but I'd throw the max at them anyway. The reality is we're probably just going to blow it all on Galo and matching a Nets offer on Nurkic.

I would propose:
1) a 4-years 75-80 mln contract at Jrue Holiday that is a defensive beast, because the big problem of Denver is at PG level.
I'm convinced that with a PG as Jrue also the defense of Jokic it would improve.

2a) a 2-year 40 mln or 3-year 54mln discount contract at Gallo (with PO the last year)
2b) a 4-year 85-90 mln at Otto Porter
2c) a 4-year 95-100 mln at Hayward

If with 2a) solution we save some money

3) offer to Serge Ibaka

Jrue
Harris
Gallo
Ibaka
Jokic

my dream team

Don't believe in Mudiay as starting PG of a competitive/contender next year.
We must take advantage of the next two years of the Jokic contract, we can not risk further with 30 mpg Mudiay (backup of Jrue it's different). Murray could take the spot of Harris or backup of Jrue.

The problem is the Nuggets at most have just over $40 million in cap space, you sign Holiday for $18 million a year starting, than you do not have the money to offer a max deal to a SF nor ibaka.

It's difficult but not impossible.

Mudiay 3.4 mln
Harris 2.5 mln
Murray 3.3 mln
Hernang 2.1 mln
Jokic 1.4 mln
Gallo 18 mln
Chandler 12 mln
-----------
42.7 mln

Salary Cap 2017-18 = 102 mln

60 mln for Jrue + Ibaka + complete roster

Trading Nurkic (3 mln), Faried (12 mln), DA (7.4 mln), Barton (3.5mln), Beasley (1.7mln), Miller (3.5mln) and get back 20 mln of contract (with a C backup) would be left 40 mln for Jrue + Ibaka.

Jrue/Mudiay
Harris/Murray
Gallo/Hernangomez
Ibaka/Chandler
Jokic/C backup

So trade 6 guys basically decimating the bench while also taking back $20 million in contracts and you are left with not enough to get Holiday and Ibaka. Ibaka's max contract is going to start around $30 million a year. That is not even counting the cap holds for the empty roster spots and draft picks. With your plan you can sign 2 of Holiday, Ibaka, and Gallo (I seriously doubt Gallo resigns for $18 million starting per year) and you have to do your moves prior to free agency. So you are left hoping you can even get 2 of the 3.

My first option is to improving the PG department.
Mudiay even after the improvement with the inclusion of Jokic in the starting lineup is a bottom 5 league PG and without Jokic is useless if not harmful. I have no confidence in Mudiay (at least now, to lead a playoff team and less than ever a contender) and we have already lost two years of the Jokic rookie contract.

I doubt anyone throw 30 mln-year to Ibaka, if so I'd stay away.

But these are just my opinions, I may well be wrong.
