I figured it was time we start a new thread with the happenings around the league, and what some of the ex-Nuggets are up to these days.

Interesting - OK, I didn't mean about Ty Lawson but I was sorta hoping he'd turned his life around. It seems like, and this is an uninformed opinion, but it seems like he thinks the rules don't apply to him. Lawson is not an ex-con, but it is similar to the ex-cons I have counseled. I let them know they have a record and every mistake they make will weigh heavier against them than it would against someone else and it may not be fair, but it's the truth so obey every rule.

Where I started was wondering if there is some place where we can find a list of former Nuggets that are still playing in the NBA.

I don't know if there is a list, but off hand I know there is
O'Bryant in Charlotte
Kirkpatrick and Foye in NJ
Nurkic in Portland
Toupane with the Bucks
Afflalo, Lawson, Koufos with the Kings
Augustine and Fournier in Orlando
Joffrey Lauvergne in Chicago
Brewer is with the Lakers
ian Clark and Mcgee with the Warriors
Aaron Brooks with the Pacers

Damn I think I know too much about the NBA, I need to get a life.

Speaking of ex-Nuggets, guys like Rodney White, DerMarr Johnson and Renaldo Balkman have also played in our professional league here in the Philippines. Among the 3, it was Balkman who really played well however, he eventually got banned for choking his own teammate.

Just sharing.

How about a short review of JaVale McGee's career?

2008-12 3.5 yrs in Washington, 2010-2011 maybe his best stretch in the NBA
Traded to Denver mid 2011 where he was mostly a minimum minutes backup
2011-12 20 games 21 mpg
2012-13 79 games 18 mpg
2013-14 5 games – stress fracture in tibia
2014-15 17 games 11 mpg
2014-15 traded to Philadelphia played 6 games
2015-16 Dallas played 34 games
2016-17 Golden State 61 games so far with 10 starts & 9 mpg
seems to fit well in Golden State

Andre Iguodala is probably not favorably remembered in Denver - by most of us. Although I think the "sharing secrets" rumors are vastly overrated. Most NBA teams know other teams' plays and such, especially by playoff time.

No doubt long-time Nuggets fans all remember this quote from Igoudala:

"I’m excited to be heading to Denver,” Iguodala said. “I have a great relationship with (team president) Josh Kroenke, and I really respect what he and Masai have built with the Nuggets. They’re a great young team with an excellent coaching staff, led by Coach Karl. I also feel like I will really complement their system and roster, both offensively and defensively."

At the end of that one year in Denver, he forced a sign-and-trade.

Four years in Golden State seems to keep him happy, probably because they are a championship contender. Looking at his stats throughout his career, he's been very consistent. An underrated scorer and a great defender with a consistent smattering of other stats.

One more former Nugget on the Warriors: Ian Clark.

46 games in Utah over 2 seasons.
7 games with Denver after being claimed off from the waiver line
Denver chose not to resign him but he found a home in Golden State - he's not a superstar or even a mainstay, but he's been consistent for them and evidently they like him as an emergency backup and a practice member

2015-16 66 games 9 mpg - 44% 36% 82%
2016-17 61 games 14 mpg - 50% 42% 74%

Timofey Mozgov
No doubt we all remember Mozgov's dynamic arrival in Cleveland. He was traded in mid-season and played 46 games, starting 45 of them, averaging 25 mpg with his typical high FG% along with his typical good FT%., along with a block plus per game and a nice welcome from the fans and team.

In Mozgov's second season in Cleveland, he started 48 of 76 games, most of which came before Tyron Lue was named as their mid-season head coach. His minutes dwindled as the season finished and at the end of the year, they let him leave as a free agent.

We all heard about his FA signing this past summer and listened to all the chatter about how much the Lakers had overpaid for him. Until Luke Walton decided to start playing his youngsters just recently; Mozgov was his starting center and his statistics were roughly close to his career averages, although a little bit low. The Lakers generally seemed very pleased with Mozgov as their center.

There's an interesting article about Mozgov & U.S.-Russian tension.

Corey Brewer
Did you know that Brewer played for the Knicks for one week? Well, he didn't really play. He saw himself behind too many players their coach liked better, so he negotiated a buyout. That was a long time ago.

Since leaving the Nuggets, Corey has continued his community involvement and it's not just PR type stuff like many players. In Houston, he was involved with Feed the Children. He always seems to find some place to volunteer at Christmas time, especially when kids are involved.

Brewer's father had diabetes, eventually having both lower limbs amputated. In honor of his father, mother, and some other relatives; all of whom have diabetes, Brewer has always focused the majority of his community outreach on raising money for the treatment of diabetes and research seeking a cure.

After his two years in Denver, Brewer continued to Minnesota for 24 games before moving on to Houston for the rest of that year plus a full year and then most of this year – being traded at the trade deadline to the Lakers. 6 teams with a repeat on Minnesota (not counting the Knicks) and his statistics have been fairly consistent. He's a good high-energy bench player, that isn't as great a 3pt shooter as he thinks, but he will always give an effort.
