Nuggets MVP= Mike Miller?

I have mentioned the reports I had heard that Miller is so great for the organization, the young guys, and recruiting, but helping Malone is just another level. This is a great article about why Miller will be a Nugget next year and as long as he can shoot and pass the ball and wants to play he will be on the roster.

Penny-pinchers might bemoan the $3.5 million Miller will cash this season. It’s a $2 million raise over the veteran minimum he collected in 2015-16, when he was signed just days before training camp and went on to post career lows in minutes played (7.9 per game) and points scored (1.3). Nevertheless, the team brought him back on a two-year, $7 million contract (though the second year is not guaranteed).

The bump in salary can be attributed to the NBA’s new TV deal, which pushed each team’s salary cap to $94 million (up from $70 million the previous year). Lots of teams had lots of money to spend. But still, why allocate so much to your oldest player (he’ll be the team’s seventh-highest paid)? One who rode the bench last year more than any other Nugget?

“You can’t just judge Mike Miller for what his stat sheet says from last season or what he did on a single night,” Malone says. “Mike Miller’s value is something that most of our fans will not be able to see.”

With all that he is doing I am glad he is here.

It would surprised/disappointed me if he isn't offered a coaching job. I see your premise, but I can't call him Nuggets MVP

Yeah, I love having him with the Nuggets, absolutely think he's great to have. I also believe he could play more than he does, but apparently he's OK with his role. It just seems to me that young players, playing with Miller would learn than young players seeing him in practice, but that's just me.

It also seems the Nuggets can certainly afford to "waste" a roster spot on him. The end of the bench seldom plays but if they have to, he's a great player to bring in. He probably gets paid more as a player than he would as a coach, so that's another way to reward him for putting up with all of the "Nugget's drama" we've had.

He functions more as a coach today, than as a player. Young players have sung his praises and how he has assisted them with shooting and in other ways. It makes total sense for him to become a member of the coaching staff; which probably means our front office will insult him with a low-ball offer and he'll take a job with Houston's 3pt shooting machine. <sigh> ((( Please pardon the discouraged view of our front office. They just haven't impressed me since a certain man left for Canada.

Jokic loves the guy. He's been very vocal about how much Mike Miller has helped him both on and off the floor, so he's probably worth keeping around for that reason alone. There's certainly worse 15th men out there.
