Will the Nuggets Resign Gallinari and/or Plumlee?

I think the Nuggets will resign both Gallinari and Plumlee - what do you think?

Not saying that is what I want though.

Resigning Gallo and Plumlee will take every penny of the salary cap, and there is no way I see them coming back with the same team next year.

I think Gallo is gone while the front office is looking for an upgrade and trying to recruit a max free agent.

Plumlee I think they refuse to match after a team overpays too much and the front office figures out that they really do not have the long term room to sign a $15 million per year backup C.

I think Gallo will stay. The front office probably will try to sign a big FA (Porter or Ibaka) but the other teams will match the offers and so Gallo will be the last big fish in the market and signs a 80-90 milions 4 years contract.
For plumlee depends the offers he will receive: anything over 12 milions and he is gone

I think they will and should re-sign Gallo. He's a good player who likes being in Denver. Teams like the Nuggets need to keep guys like that around. Throwing the max at Hayward/Porter is a waste of time. Chandler doesn't want to be here and has plenty of trade value. He's the one who should be shown the door.

The Plumlee situation will be interesting. I'd probably agree on a $12M/year limit, but even that is pushing it. I can't see any team giving him $15 million on a long-term deal, but it might make some sense on a shorter 2-3 year deal.

The potential trades of Chandler and Barton certainly could impact whether Gallo is resigned or not. Denver has always been trying to rebuild on the fly, if all three leave there would be huge lack of experience at the SF position. Trading Chandler could free up $12M which could be used towards resigning Gallo. I definitely see Chandler going, depending what/who we get back will have a lot to do with our free agency.

Have to. Or look super (Please Use More Appropriate Word) for the lost value of trading for one of them and not trading the other.

They are 100% resigning plumlee. It's a done deal they announced that already. Besides just read the tea leaves they wouldn't have traded a first round pick if they weren't resigning him.

Plumlee can play 12 mpg with Jokic because Jokic is becoming a good 3pt shooter. And he's a top notch backup center when Jokic sits. Hernangomez has an extremely bright future and can pair with either big as well. If you consider there are 96 minutes a game at pf/c that creates 32 mpg for each of those 3. Remember, faried is not in their long term plans and will be shopped again.

Defensively plumlee is athletic and Jokic is a positional defender. They aren't going to be great defensively together, but they only need to be adequate. The nuggets will be much better defensively once they replace the nelson/mudiay disastrous defensive PG combo. Also Murray was really bad defensively this year but should improve some with experience. Additionally, Harris struggled when he returned from that serious groin injury. He will be much better defensively next year.

The nuggets perimeter defense issues GREATLY exaggerate Jokic supposed struggles as a defender. He will be solid once the right pieces are around him. And considering the nuggets should consistently be the #1 Or #2 offense in the league during his prime , their defense just needs to be in the top half of the league to contend.

Gallinari is the real test. This is one of those hard decisions because it's best for the team long term if they let him walk. He's injury prone, expensive, and limited defensively.

But the team is much worse in the short term with out his offensive firepower and spacing.

Tim C. Is doing an amazing job he's one of the best GM's in the league but he's got to be somewhat hesitant to make a move that makes the nugs potentially miss the playoffs again.

This is absolutely not the season to spend a lot of money on free agents though because prices come down next season.

If the nuggets can just get lucky tonight and get Lonzo ball or josh Jackson they will have a serious contender on their hands.

Gotta disagree - I don't think they work well together. Plumlee is a good passer but defenders sag off from him because he has no range. Jokic is best in the high post and Plumlee is then pushed to the baseline, leaving his defender better able to provide help defense. IMO Plumlee is a good backup for Jokic, but I don't like them together any more than Nurkic-Jokic --- which might have been better if Malone had run the offense then, that he ended up with.

Still not convinced Harris' struggles weren't the defensive scheme and, as Rebel pointed out, Harris carried a bigger offensive load. [/quote]

Disagree - I think he's done fairly well, but to be "one of the best", he's got to make a serious move. As you say, "somewhat hesitant".

This is absolutely not the season to spend a lot of money on free agents though because prices come down next season.

I'd agree with your premise, but my reason would be that the Nuggets aren't ready to contend - yet. Keep the salary structure reasonable and make the big deal only when it's too good to pass up and it's the right fit.

If the nuggets can just get lucky tonight and get Lonzo ball or josh Jackson they will have a serious contender on their hands.

I'd pay to keep Lonzo Ball out of Denver. He might be good, but his daddy brings too much baggage and since he seems to like it, I'm thinking he'd want the Nuggets to be all about him. No good IMO! --- Jackson? I'd love him, I think.

Lonzo and Jokic are a match made in heaven. Lonzo is amazing In transition but struggles as the primary playmaker in Halfcourt. Jokic would allow Lonzo to be a secondary playmaker where he can thrive.

With the way Jokic rebounds and throws outlet passes Lonzo would be an amazing fit in Denver. They'd instantly be a threat to come out of the West.

Denver already matches up with golden State as well as anyone In the league. Jokic is the Warrior slayer.

Mares pointed out that Lonzo's lack of a pick and roll game stemming from his atrocious inability to threat a pull-up doesn't really matter in teams that utilize the dribble handoff...

Though let's be honest we're not getting Lonzo.
