Nuggets get: Klay Thompson, Kevon Looney

Warriors get: Jamal Murray, Juan Hernangomez and Will Barton

Do you pull the trigger?

At the moment, Klay is the best player in the deal and I would have to think about it long and hard. Murray and Hernangomez may have the most upside.

I would probably take Klay and live to regret it.

I would say no, I like Thompson but I put him in a tier lower than Butler and Love.

Yes in a heartbeat. We are all hoping Jamal Murray turns into Klay-like player, so might as well get Klay.

That's the trade off here, and it works for both teams, IMO (although people on the Dubs forum think I'm nuts for wanting to trade Klay).

For the Nuggets...they get Klay Thompson still in his prime on a great contract, who's an outstanding fit next to Jokic, Faried and Harris.

For the Warriors, we get two young prospects that fit nicely into our offense (ball-movement, spacing), and we make room to resign Iggy and either McGee or Livingston.

Just spitballing here, but if you resign Gallo and end up with the following lineup:

Gary Harris
Klay Thompson
Danilo Gallinari
Kenneth Faried
Nikola Jokic

this is a top 4 or 5 seed.

Very tempting, very very tempting - but I'll say no.
Thompson is better than Harris for now, but Harris is still developing. Will he be as good? Perhaps, perhaps not, but I'm willing to gamble on him. My problem is adding in Hernangomez. He has high potential also. It's a gamble again, but betting two high upside is just too much IMO.

I'd hate to lose either Harris or Murray, but for Thompson, I'd trade one - definitely not both.
Or I'd trade Hernangomez, but not 2 of those 3.

The Warriors probably want some depth with one starter to replace Thompson.
Counter offer of Barton + Faried (he'll be a fan favorite with his hustle) + one of Hernangomez, Murray, Harris.

Easily, I wuold put even a top-8 protected first round pick. I wuold trade everyone except Jokic for him (if he resign at least for 4 years).
IMHO Thompson have the quality to be a franchise player and with Jokic he wuold form a amazing combo.

While Klay is a better player I see an alpha mentality in Murray that has not developed with Klay, I'd pass....but I'd give up Harris and Juancho for him.

Harris and Juancho sure, but Harris is not a PG and he would lose minutes to Klay so...

Really good analysis and it makes sense from your standpoint, but I would have to decline that as well. We have little use for Faried with Draymond (and now Jordan Bell) on the roster. Intriguing, but no cigar.

I do think Thompson is an awesome fit next to Jokic, which is why the Nuggets were the first team I thought of. The other team was the Bucks for something like Maker/Middleton, as he'd be a great fit next to Giannis as well.

I'd prefer Murray as we already have McCaw, but I'd pull the trigger on Barton/Harris and JHG if it means that we can bring back Iggy.

I don't see the Nuggets giving up 2 of Harris, Murray,or Hernangomez for Thompson. Despite all the hype he still struggles against double teams, fumbles the ball and makes mental errors under heavy pressure. That is not the guy you want as anything more than your 3rd best player if you want to win.

Don't see the merit of this trade at all.
We aren't in position to maximize Klay nor do we really need him to get over a hump in the next 3 seasons.
