Oh my goodness - is the above article one of the geeky-est articles I've ever bothered to actually read? Absolutely!
Was it worth the time to not just read but to dig into and compare stats and study? I surely do think so.

Sure, I disagreed with some of what the author said and some of his conclusions but I also can see where he is coming from.

To sum it up, he's doing some serious advanced statistics looking at Nelson, Barton, Murray, Mudiay.

My biggest take-aways?
1) Nelson can be tolerated for another year - he is beneficial in some ways. Keeping Nelson for another year makes sense, even though I think he's a terrible fit for a couple of reasons. His contract isn't a killer and it expires after next year, plus, he's not a high-trade-value guy - although I think there are some teams that would love him.
2) Barton can work on the Nuggets team but IMO he needs to seriously work on defense - man-on-man & especially help defense. But that can be said of most of the team and it may largely rest on the team's defensive scheme or lack thereof.
3) Mudiay still shows a great deal of promise - the question is; can Malone find a way to take advantage of that or will Mudiay become another Nurkic-type where he's great elsewhere but not here?
4) Murray was the best of the four and he was a rookie - constantly reminded of that too.
5) Murray-Mudiay-Harris can become a fantastic guard rotation in a year or two or three.

I'd guess that the ideal would be a Murray/Harris backcourt, and that would be fine with me. Mudiay has been a disappointment, and it would be a very pleasant surprise if he turned it around, but Murray/Harris could be very, very solid. If Jokic is playing 36 minutes, Murray would not need to be a traditional, pass-first point guard.
