The three worst defensive teams last year were probably:
The Lakers were 3rd worst in opponents points per game and worst in opponents FG%.
Denver was 4th worst in opponents points per game and 2nd worst in opponents FG%.
Phoenix was the worst in opponents points per game and 5th worst in opponents FG%.

Re: Terrible Defensive Teams
The Nuggets added a top 15 defensive player in the league, Nelson who was by far our worst defensive player according to most advanced stats is likely to be 3rd string this year, and Gallo who was our 2nd worst defensive starter last year is gone, if our defense is not considerably better than it is 100% on Malone and his system.
The Lakers and Phoenix really did nothing to improve their defense this season.

Okay but why are we comparing the Nuggets to two lottery teams.

Nope, not comparing the Nuggets to two lottery teams - comparing the Nuggets to the other teams competing last year for worst defense in the league. From what I've seen in our first two preseason games, we may still be in that competition.
