Not bad. I'm already high on Harris and he's young with upside. He needs to prove he can be a good defender this year though. I think he has the ability, as I really think his groin injury affected him last season.

Great deal, second good thing of this offseason after Millsap contract structure.
Even after Jokic' max Denver will have enough cap to extend Murray if he proves a good player

We all figured this would happen...he’s going to have to continue to improve to justify it.
Forked out a lot of cash this offseason...if they miss the playoffs it’s a total bust IMO. I predict the Nuggets end up losing a talented player because of all the deals they now have on the books.

Did Harris have a groin injury? Pretty sure it was just his foot early on

I take a look at denver salary and the only young player that denver risk to lose is mudiay and imho it is not a big problem.
But probably faried will be traded in the next months for free.

I don't think so. I personally think Denver will be in the playoffs, but if Denver misses the playoffs this season, it's simply because the conference is absurdly stacked. It may not even out completely, but the EC will have money to burn and be able to offer winning to stars who come over, so it will somewhat balance out in a year or two. Denver has a nice core and should be in the playoffs sooner rather than later.
Anyway, as a Spartan fan, I'm happy for Harris. I enjoyed watching Harris at State and he has honestly outperformed my expectations already.

Wow, I'm still trying to get my head around these new contract figures.
One thing I do know is that, in this day and age, there's only so much room for mediocre or lousy contracts on a team.
Here's hoping.

The way I see it, there are 6 teams fighting for spots 5-8 in the playoffs. If the Nuggets aren't in the playoffs, they really blew this off-season unless of course there is a major injury to a key player.

If the Nuggets miss the playoffs than I do not think Malone or Connelly are here a year from now, truth is with the comments Malone has made about running less of the offense through Jokic and reportedly wanting to start Nelson at PG, I would be fine if Malone was fired today.
With the incentives this deal is not too bad, there were many on Realgm and Reddit that kept trying to tell me he would get a max deal, and this is considerably less than that.

This is worth noting.
I don’t care what the rest of the West did, sure it made it tough sledding but life is never easy in the West.
The K’s forked out 90(60) to Milsap, 41 to Plumlee and 84(74) to Harris, you can’t tell me they did that with the expectation Pepsi will be as empty as years past and there will be no playoff revenue. When you’re paying guys that kinda money the re-building phase is over, time to win some damn games.

He missed the early part of the season with a partially torn groin muscle.

More like 18.5 Million if the incentives are tough to reach.

At 4/$74 that's a nice looking deal for the Nuggets. If he hits the incentives then he's probably worth it. How are incentives treated for salary cap and luxury tax purposes?

18 per is basically what I was expecting to give Harris... not bad at all.

It almost seems like Malone feels the need to make extreme statements just to get some press.
He has the Nuggets not using Jokic as the center of the offense more than we saw late last year. It still works because we have so many good passers (except for one or two

). But running the offense through Jokic would likely vault the Nuggets to the best offense and IMO, we're going to need a great offense because the "new defense" I'm seeing is not being overly effective even against the Lakers. Sure, they've done OK, but the Spurs will be a good test of our defensive efforts.
Hearing the FO & Malone saying "defense, defense, defense" and then saying "might start Nelson at PG is like saying, "I'm going on a weight-loss program that focuses on eating just pies and cakes.

Just wanted to drop by and say that I think this is really good deal for you guys. He's paid about 15-25% less, as a percentage of the cap, that Klay Thompson did when he signed his extension. Klay was at 24.6% of the cap, Harris is at about 18-21% depending on if he reaches the incentives.
Harris is probably worth that 15-25% less to you guys than Klay is worth to GS, so it makes sense. Klay is underpaid now. As long as Harris keeps up what he did last year, he will be underpaid too. Just hope last season wasn't a fluke.
