Power Rankings

HoopsHabit's power rankings begins the season with the Nuggets as #14. That's rather impressive and perhaps a little intimidating. For certain not many teams will give the Nuggets an easy game.
Assuming the West is better than the East and realizing they rank 6 eastern teams ahead of the Nuggets, that leaves the Nuggets as the 8th best team in the west. I'd think they are a little better than that in the west. I doubt Minnesota & LAC & Portland will all three finish ahead of the Nuggets.

ESPN has the Nuggets at #8, NBA.com at #11.
In other words, this is a mystery team, and its success will depend largely on the growth of Jokic, Murray and Harris.

Actually a bit insulted by the #14 ranking considering how weak the EC is. I think #11 is about right though

Current Nuggets' Ranking
7 Bleacher Report
13 ESPN
13 CBS
15 NBA.com
17 Sports Illustrated
Win one against a bottom team in Denver.
Lose badly in Utah.
Rankings went up overall, slightly.
That still leaves the Nuggets on track for the playoffs.

Interesting. It seems like the higher they have us ranked, the more open to data analytics and advanced stats they are. Bleacher report with good young writers that are willing to use all the info available on one end of the spectrum, sports illustrated, pretty much a dinosaur in 2017, at the other.

Advanced statistics can disagree with the eye-test. My opinion? I have no idea, I need more time.

Yup. It’ll be interesting to see if the data predicting us to be better than the old sportswriters is right.

Are these rankings based solely off this year's data or are they combining preseason projections with this year's? A lot of systems take the preseason projections into account and then slowly phase them out over the course of the season. Makes a huge difference

Fairly certain all of these ignore preseason. But then again, I've made stupid assumptions before.
