Trade Player Exceptions - Will Denver Use These?

$13,764,045 (Expires 7/15/2019)
$12,800,562 (Expires 7/8/2019)

TPEs are not always used because it doesn't always make sense to use them

It seems unlikely the Nuggets will use these two TPEs this off-season and unless we have a significant injury, it seems unlikely they will use them during the season.

Will they use them next off-season? They expire rather early in the off-season.

My bet is they end up using one at the trade deadline to plug a hole.

I don't think they will use any of them unless it is after July 1st next summer.

How about both trade exceptions + Trey Lyles for Paul George ?? Can it be done ? I don't know but PG is really one of the only superstars I'd like to see added to this team.

Hold on, I need to get a drool rag before I respond to this one. I'd love to add George but I don't think you can use two TPEs for one player in a trade but that's not my expertise. We'll have to see what Rebel says.

I could see us trying to trade Barton + Lyles & using a TPE to get George. Not sure that works either. But if we got George, we wouldn't need Barton (although I wouldn't mind a bench that included Barton & Thomas - Malone certainly wouldn't need to call any plays for those two; just send them out and go take a bathroom break).

Who says both TE’s have to go to the same team ? Rebel, bring that one home...

You cannot combine exceptions, the front office should have been able to get 1 large exception for the Arthur Faried deal, but it appears they took 2 separate ones for some reason.

One came from Chandler deal the other came from Faried/Arthur deal.

I could see using the $12.8M (Marcus Smart ?) exception to trade for a player OKC likes then redirecting him along with $13.8M TE along with Lyles to obtain PG

Nope you would have to trade both for salaries and then wait until they can be combined in a trade.
