Paul's Place

Seems most ot the Nuggets players are meeting down in ATL at Millsaps gym. Jokic and Harris get a pass as they're with Basketball Without Borders camp in Serbia. Millsap has yet to show his face as IT, Barton and Craig all seem AWOL as well. Not a manditory meeting but shows a hunger along with a lot of solidarity among this team, VERY IMPRESSIVE !!!
If our RealGM Nuggets forum members showed up like this, we'd be Jammin '

IT has just been relaxing at his home and putting in some light work in the gym I believe. Barton just played in and won back to back championships in the Brunson league. I swear I saw Craig working out with some other nba players on IG but I may be mistaken, I do know that right now he’s in New Jersey for some reason of his own.

Also Zekend just happened for IT so that was keeping him occupied. I think a big part of why IT has been occupied with other stuff is to keep his mind off of Chyna, his sister. He’s still suffering from that as that’s been obvious with his tweets and other posts. DAP has said he’s loved the environment in Atlanta right now and I think if IT isn’t already there, it would do him a lot of good to go and get used to his new teammates. Akoon-Purcell has even said they’re all talking to eachother as if they’re a family and no one is being an introvert.

Especially nice is to see Juancho there. All other players are already parts of some common events and meetings this summer except him.

Yeah, I was thinking how devastating a shooting trio of Juancho/Lyles/IT will look off the bench, could be fun this year, fellas !!

Lyles - Hernangomez - Barton -Beasley (maybe) - Thomas --- what a great bench offense that could be and frankly, they'd probably fit well together.
Of course Barton's starting but no doubt Malone will use him with the bench too. Malone likes him as the PG with the bench (and the starters

).
Yeah, it could definitely be a fun team to watch this year - and not just the starters.

I'm thinking Craig gets minutes over Beasley. Beasley has just not progressed and is much too inconsistent. If Craig can start knocking down the 3 more regularly he'll be a solid bench player. It's also hard not to pencil in Plumlee for bench minutes. I'm guessing Plumlee - Lyles- ? - Barton - Thomas, with the ? being either Hernangomez or Craig.

Yeah, I missed him and don't know why. I really like him. I guess I was just thinking "shooting". If I had my choice, Craig would be the starting SF with Barton the first player off the bench (with Thomas closely following).
We don't really need Barton's offense with the starters and Craig's offense is adequate - perhaps ideal to mix with Jokic & Murray alongside Harris & Millsap. Meanwhile, Craig's defense might help set the tone for the starters. Think about the defense with
Jokic - underrated defense (by a lot)
Millsap - top quality defender
Craig - quality defender - most versatile defender the Nuggets have
Harris - elite defender
Murray - never quits, not afraid to get physical with a big - but needs to learn

Hard to disagree, but not only has Barton earned the right to (temporarily) join the starting lineup (and more than likely a promise was made to him) he's more experienced than Craig. Barton has helped build this team into who they are and he's played the good soldier doing whatever has been asked of him. While i think he's better off the bench, Craigs inexperience might be a detriment to the overall flow and balance he'd bring to the starting lineup.

Isn't that inconsistency too ?? Both Beasley and Craig are deficient in one area or another, let them work it out in training camp. Not calling you wrong on Beasley, Craig's defense is definitely more consistent than most of Beasley's game, However I do believe Beasley has more overall talent than Craig, that lightbulb just needs to go on and stay on.

Yeah, I hear ya and it's hard to disagree. My mantra of "play youth" is going to be modified now. With Jokic, Harris & Murray having gained some experience (not fast enough for me, but ...

) The young players can learn more slowly. I'm afraid we may have wasted our pick on Beasley though and I had hopes. Perhaps I was wrong, only time will tell.
Craig certainly isn't a major piece and it's OK if he's off the bench, at least for me. Consider our top-7 players and it seems unlikely that any will have less than 3 years experience. We have a nice starting lineup. The bench isn't great but it isn't terrible. We still have youth (experience, if not age): Porter, Vanderbilt, Morris, Lydon, Craig and to a lesser degree, Hernangomez, Beasley.

Craig was a rookie last year and Beasley was in his second. All rookies are somewhat inconsistent. I think Craig has earned more playing time and a shot at ironing out the wrinkles, Malik hasn't.

Craig
may have been an NBA rookie last year but he’s 26 and already had a couple of years in an Aussie professional league as well as 4 years of NCAA experience, let’s not pretend he has no experience. Malik was drafted after 1 year of NCAA experience and was recovering from a leg injury his 1st year. Not giving Malik a pass, he should be better than Craig by now, I just see them in same tier right now
