DENVER NUGGETS Injury Report:
DECEMBER 21 INJURY REPORT: https://milehighsports.com/reinforcements-are-on-the-way-for-dangerously-depleted-nuggets/

Michael Porter Jr. (Back, no timeline, possibly out of season)
Spoiler:
Not clear will he play this season at all
Jarred Vanderbilt (Foot, no timeline, possibly out of season)
Spoiler:
Vanderbilt has been ruled out for Sunday's game against Los Angeles due to right foot surgery.

Vanderbilt's status for the preseason still remains unclear as he continues to recover from right foot surgery. The rookie has not seen any action since being drafted back in June and played only 14 games with Kentucky last season.
Isaiah Thomas (Hip, January)
Spoiler:
Thomas is being brought along extremely slowly in his recovery and there's no guarantee he ends up playing at any point during the preseason. The Nuggets are off for a week until next Tuesday's tilt with the Clippers, so that should be Thomas' next opportunity to make his exhibition debut. Still, there's a chance he simply waits to take the floor until the regular-season opener Oct. 17. Thomas is expected to operate as Denver's backup point guard to Jamal Murray.

Porter & Vanderbilt are additions and we can afford to wait for them IMO.

Thomas is a gamble. If he never plays, it'll be a low-cost gamble but we'll probably miss him. If we wait until he's ready, he'll be ready. He's a smart player and will fit in just fine, or so it seems.

Nuggets' Jamal Murray: Late scratch Tuesday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire
Murray is a late scratch for Tuesday's preseason game against the Lakers due to an ankle sprain, T.J McBride of Mile High Sports reports.

Murray has been nursing an ankle injury since before training camp and aggravated the injury during the Nuggets' preseason opener. His absence is reportedly precautionary.

Gary Harris (Hamstring)
Spoiler:
Nuggets' Gary Harris: Won't play Wednesday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire
Harris (hamstring) will be held out of Wednesday's preseason game against the Lakers, Harrison Wind of BSNDenver.com reports.

Harris had previously been listed as questionable, but with Wednesday being a meaningless preseason contest, he'll remain on the bench. The 24-year-old will have a whole week until Denver's next game, so it seems likely that he'll be ready to take the court Oct. 9 against the Clippers.

Not worried about Harris or Murray. They know their role and have played with all the key players.

Harris and Murray will be back before the regular season starts, rather have them healthy when it counts. Same goes for the season with MPJ and Vanderbilt, their long-term future means more to the team than the immediate returns could bring. As for IT, Morris is filling in adequately enough to wait until IT is completely healthy. He can really have a huge impact for this team especially heading into a playoff run.

Too bad IT2 isn't healthy, especially with Morris playing so well. PHX and SAS need a starting level PG and we could get a decent return for a guy who could possibly/probably leave after this season.

Spurs already trade Danny Green, and Kyle Anderson is gone too, so I can't see anyone which would be a better solution for us than IT. Maybe Rudy Gay, but he will put Denver into the luxury tax position, which means a too big price for us. The Suns case is more interesting, we can send IT as new starting PG and Barton as their new #1 backcourt backup option, plus 2019 2nd round pick and Juancho which is still an asset, and ask from them forward TJ Warren and G-F Mikal Bridges. Or maybe Ariza and Bridges, depending on who has the biggest priority for Phoenix on the forward spot, Warren or Ariza.

Well, I was thinking more of a draft pick as both appear to be lottery teams or have draft picks available. We seem to differ alot as to put out in a PHX trade, but to each his own.

Wonder how long Jokic's finger is going to be an issue ? Minor as it appears, surely it's keeping him down in a few areas

Don't really know what's wrong, but pre-season's the time to rest him if it would help. Then again, that might not help. Nobody has really said. But yeah, it's got to be hurting his game in ways similar to Millsap when he came back last year. If I recall correctly, we've had other players come back and play while still nursing an injury. Maybe Plumlee and I'm thinking Harris once - but I'm not sure who it was. It was just something I thought about at the time and then forgot about.

Is anyone else here confused about Isaiah Thomas status?

Just two days before the start of the season no relevant information will he play season opener vs Clippers, and if not, when he will be finally available!?

All they keep saying is they are going to be cautious and he will be available at some time during the season. Reports seem to indicate some time in December but nobody has made that statement that I know of.

Yeah, I heard a couple of weeks ago he said he'd be ready for the opener, now now sure he'll be ready by Christmas ??

This quote/question was from other thread, but answer more belongs here. Actually, right now I think nobody knows the right answer. I'm pretty sure after draft original Nuggets plan for Porter is to redshirt him whole season. But after that 2nd surgery and news about good progress, the team decided to prolong final decision. So I guess that is the reason why still no relevant information about this subject, and maybe they will stay so mysterious until Christmas!

Let's hope Barton injury is not that bad like it looks.

Without Barton, already in the next five days, we will have great matchups like Craig/Durant and Craig/LeBron.

Barton is in the locker room chatting with teammates. Limping a bit. No clarity yet on extent of injury.

Thankfully, according to Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports, Barton received the good news that he avoided tearing his groin or his labrum in his hip. Barton did strain his groin, and he will be out for an extended amount of time, but that is a significantly less devastating diagnosis than what could have been.

Groin strains generally take two-to-eight weeks to fully recover depending on the severity, which is not known at this time. His timetable to return is currently unknown.

Groin Injury Recovery Timeline
...A relatively minor groin injury might require just three weeks of rest, while a more severe injury could require four to six weeks. A complete rupture of a groin muscle could require surgery, which comes with a recovery period of up to three months. Resting after a groin strain is critical to a successful recovery. Returning to activity too quickly could worsen the injury and will certainly extend the groin injury recovery period...

While the timetable for Barton return is still uncertain, it should be something between 3-6 weeks.

Injuries are the very important thing for Denver this season since the early start. We still don't know will our lottery pick steal Porter Jr play this season at all, and if yes, since when. Also, we don't know when Isaiah Thomas will finally make his debut for the team. And already during 2nd game of the season our SF starter Barton is injured and must go to surgery. But the problem with this thread is the very conservative policy of Denver Nuggets about injury information, so we still don't know anything about Porter and Thomas cases, and about Barton surgery, we heard only after it happens.

To bring some life in this sticky thread OP is edited with DENVER SCHEDULE part. So, we can talk here about upcoming games before the official game thread for that game is opened. For example, the next two Nuggets games are road games vs underdogs Chicago and Orlando. If there is one thing which killed Denver efforts last season to reach the playoff, it is cheap loses vs weak teams on the road. We have this week two back-to-back such, so we can see did our players (and coach) learn their lessons from the last season.
