233 Early Entry Candidates for the draft? Last I knew, there were only 60 draft picks and there are a lot of not early candidates. Anyone else thinking some of these young men are getting some very poor advice?

Nuggets don't have a draft pick, if I've got this right. I'm okay with that because Vanderbilt is almost a rookie, Porter will be a rookie and I'm hopeful Cancar at least plays in the Summer League (no doubt the front office has been watching him and will give him a shot if they think he might make the team).

But does anyone think we could still pickup a draft pick? Do we want to?

I know this years second went to Milwaukee from the Roy Hibbert trade, but wasn’t it heavily protected? What exactly were the details of the protection of the pick? I heard rumors at the time that it’s top 55 protected. If that’s still the case, then the nuggets clinch the 26th pick or above by reaching the second round and by having Tor, GSW, and The Bucks reach the conference finals. Meaning I’m totally okay with that pick not conveying, and would actually much rather it not convey.

I could see possibly buying a 2nd from a team with multiples, someone like PHI. Draft-n-stash candidate most like if they do it.

RealGM says 2019 2nd to New Orleans but doesn't mention protection

They changed the rules so these early entry candidates can still go back to school, and I would assume a lot of them will.

We don't have picks at all in upcoming draft, so right now, we have to post here our player-for-pick trade suggestions or use this thread as hot subject which is split from general 'Around NBA' thread.

Pelicans owns our 2nd round pick, and after end of A.Davis era I think NOLA would be a perfect destination for Barton. Barton for NOP#39 seems fair and good-to-all deal. Sixers owns four 2nd round picks in 2019 draft, including #33 #34 #42 #56. As contender team, they will be wrong place for development of late picks prospects, but their bench needs to be more deep. Sixers have no cap space to waste on Barton, but expiring Juancho under rookie contract can be very interesting for them. Juancho for #33 or for #34 or for #42+#56 seems fair to me considering he is expiring.

For which exactly reason do Pelicans want Barton? The sooner we accept that barton is a negative asset, the better. I only see him as a good fit in Detroit and maybe Orlando (sending back Mozgov, which is far from ideal).

For a teams "under construction" next 2-3 seasons, a decent SG player which can play SF and PG too, Barton is reasonable investment. Barton, especially as starter, is very bad fit for Denver unique point-center system, but he is starter level player for lottery teams, and legit 25+ mpg 6th man option for the big majority of league teams.

No lottery team has interest in a 29 year old ballhog with a big contract for the next three seasons, especially if they have to include any asset to complete the deal. He is not a good reference in the locker room (he has four kids with four different women) and does not have great work ethic. He only fits in struggling win now teams with no cap flexibility at all.

Barton does have value on the right team and perhaps not just a rebuilding team. A team that is contending but needs a bench scorer might be interested and there are often ways they can acquire a player.

Contenders don´t commit 39M for the next three seasons in a type of player like Barton. It is not only he is playing bad, he also has a bad contract.

UNBELIEVABLE.....a trade you propose that I agree 100% on !!! NOP can use a player of Barton's talents, good value for NOP at #39, we get a little cap space to boot. Good job Joker !!

If Denver gets any pick, I'd like them to get any of these players:

E.J. Montgomery - Kentucky - 6'10 228 PF/C
Nick Richards - Kentucky - 6'11 244 C
Matisse Thybulle - Washington - 6'5 195 SG/SF
Luguentz Dort - Arizona State - 6'4 215 SG/SF
P.J. Washington Jr. - Kentucky - 6'8 234 PF
Kris Wilkes - UCLA - 6'8 205 SF
Mfiondu Kabengele - Florida State - 6'10 250 PF/C

gambling on a young backup center would be okay in my book - if we don't keep Lyles and/or Lydon, gambling on a PF would be okay (not necessary if we keep Millsap) - no so sure we need to gamble on a SF or SG or PG unless we are trading anyone besides Barton

we obviously need forwards, while I am still just as high as ever on MPJ and Vanderbilt, we need at least another PF and to bring over Cancar if Juancho is not going to cut it.

I can see teams like the Thunder, Pacers, Magic, Trailblazers, and Pistons all having interest in a guy like Barton. They need a scorer off the bench and their entire offense is predicated on ball dominant players.

Nikola Miskovic https://youtu.be/okfb9Z89SLA works better than Cancar. Barton could go to the wolves and pistols of the semi-teams. Surely better than Vigins...

We don't currently have a pick to get Miskovic, and under NBA rules he has to enter the draft before he can get signed as a free agent. We already have the NBA rights to Cancar, he played for us last year in the summer league and seemed to do very well playing NBA rules. We really only need him to be a bench forward and he seems more than capable.

I like Thybulle or Dort from your list. I really like KZ okpala for the Nugs.

Or for a pf the think Brandon Clarke or to a lesser degree Kenny Wooten

People always have a tough time with this idea but I wonder what pick/player in the draft would be worth 1,2, or 3 1st round picks.

For instance: I’d def trade a future 1st for an okpala, Thybulle, dort type. I think I’d trade 2 future 1sts for Clarke- maybe more. Obviously 3 for Zion would be easy. Not sure if I’d go 3 picks for anyone else.

This is the draft for the Nugs to trade into. A lot of people say 4-24 in this draft are all a scramble of guys who could go anywhere. Some even say 4-40

Nugs are going to pick in the 20’s for the next 5 years. This years draft is the one to get into

Draft where you want. Not where they tell you.

Our FO is not known as aggressive, so I'm not sure they are going to trade for some 2019 pick (at least 2nd round) before the draft.

So maybe we should be focused on undrafted players? We take Torrey Craig after all on that way! In this playoff, we can see how Spurs Bryn Forbes or Raptor Fred VanVleet was useful for their teams, and both are undrafted players from the 2016 draft. If our scouts have some secret undrafted pick we will see it probably already during Summer League.
