Starting Jokic/Plumlee together and getting another big?

I think they’d love to play Jokic and Plumlee together more and maybe even start them together if they had the right 3rd guy to play with them in that way.
Willie Cauley-Stein is such an incredible athlete and his defensive versatility could be that perfect guy. I wonder what kind of contract it would take? I think his value is all time low for his talent. Maybe he needs a better fit

Plumlee works with Jokic - for short stretches IMO. Best players around Jokic are stretch players and Cauley-Stein is worse at that than Plumlee. I seriously doubt the Nuggets want either of those playing major minutes next to Jokic. Millsap is a better fit.

I’m not quite sure I’m with you on stretch player at the 4 being best to pair w Jokic. I think it’s more Milsap ability around the basket that makes him ideal w Jokic. I’m such a huge believer in high/low action in basketball and even though other teams aren’t doing it doesn’t mean it couldn’t destroy other teams.
I think the part that would normally scare teams off of 2 bigs now is defensively. The unique part about Plumlee and WCS (and in a perfect world Bolbol in a different way due to length) is that plumlee and wcs can guard forwards
I am going off my assumption that Milsap is gone in this thought. Gone or brought back at 30. I don’t want a 3 year 45 mill deal or anything like that at all

The other guy I see as a starting pf it just doesn’t make any sense because he’s proved nothing is Vanderbilt. He has the tools to be a plus defender against modern forwards.

It seems unlikely that the Nuggets do not find a way to have Millsap for another year or two. But that's just my opinion.
The reason you need stretch players around Jokic is because he's at his best playing the high-post with players running the baseline and cutting to the basket. A player that can't hit a three means there is a defender clogging the lane and that takes away Jokic's effectiveness. Millsap hit 36.5% of his 3s last year; not great, but quite adequate. It puts him at 64th in the league - meaning he would have been the third best 3pt shooter for almost any team that had him as a member.
On the Nuggets, the only starter that shot better than him from 3pt range was Murray. The only bench contributors that shot better than him from 3pt range were Morris & Beasley.

Taj Gibson would be a handy, tough player to add

Not a great shooter - but not terrible either. I LOVE his defense and attitude. He'd be a great addition for the Nuggets, if they don't keep Millsap.

Ok I’m with you there. I guess I’m just picturing how many finishes around the basket Milsap gets w Jokic high. I’m def not even saying that I think Jokic/plumlee is the best plan just that I think they might do it
It’s kind of why I’ve thought a Wiggins type. The cutters you are talking about need to be explosive finishers. The Nugs have to see if they can get better at both shooting and finishing at the basket still.
The shooting is another area the Nugs could put assets toward. Bogdanovic and Bjelica from the kings is my other dream trade.
But what about the pacers Bojan Bogdanovic? Would he be a perfect signing for 16-18 million if it was this current team back?

If they are looking for a power forward then I would be interested in Bobby Portis. Washington is in cap hell and may understand that although Portis is restricted, they likely can't match any reasonable offer. Here is where one of our trade exceptions (plus a 2nd) may come into play because they are not interested in adding salary.

Faried worked too, it's just Plumlee's more limited on catching lobs. It's why I'm excited to see more Vanderbilt next year hopefully.

Plumlee and Jokic starting together is a recipe for disaster, Plumlee is not big enough to guard a lot of starting Centers and not a good enough perimeter defender to guard most starting PFs. Plus Plumlee does nothing to open the lane.
Willie Cauley Stein is being pushed out of the Kings because he has a terrible work ethic and only plays hard when he chooses to, no thanks.
I like Taj Gibson, but at this point he is too old and not worth delaying the young guys development or getting rid of Millsap.
Portis is a dirty player that actually is bad on defense. He will go for the cheap shot but rarely is ever in good position or able to stop anybody without trying to injure them. Not interested in him at all.
I want to see what Vanderbilt, Cancar, and Bol are able to do, let them compete for the backup minutes behind Millsap this year and hopefully one of them will prove worthwhile.

I want to see that group of pf’s as well. I’m not saying I want plumlee starting. I just think right now he would.
Who would Malone start tonight?
Murray
Harris
Craig
Plumlee
Jokic
You know he would. So a big roster change needs to happen right??
If you say he wouldn’t start plumlee you need to name who he would start. Mpj or juancho at pf? No cop out millsap answers.

If Millsap is gone without a replacement, I suspect he plays Vanderbilt or Porter or even Hernangomez. While I don't like many of Malone's rotations, I do not believe he wants to play Plumlee 30 mpg.

No cop out Millsap answers? Last I checked he is still on the roster and payroll and still considered our starting PF. If he was out than no I do not believe that Plumlee would be starting, I have a feeling it would be either Juancho (if healthy) or Vanderbilt.
By the end of the season Malone was playing Plumlee and Jokic very limited amounts in the regular season, in the playoffs he even tried to go with Lyles and an injured Juancho before going with Plumlee, Millsap, and Jokic as the 3 big rotation. He knows as do those of us who paid attention that Jokic and Plumlee is not a good pairing, especially against starters.
