Is it too early to try and figure out our rotation?
Jokic-Plumlee
Millsap-Grant
Barton-Craig
Harris-Beasley
Murray-Morris
Looks about the same as last year.
Porter & Bol & Hernangomez: will their health limit them? Will Malone give them minutes?
Vanderbilt needs to prove himself and that might be tough in terms of getting minutes.

Re: 2019-2020 Rotation
Porter is the biggest mystery, and how often will be Grant used as SF.
For 10-man playoff rotation it would be something like:
Basic:
Murray(28), Morris(20)
Harris(30), Beasley(13), Murray(5)
Porter(25), Beasley(13), Grant(10)
Millsap(28), Grant(20)
Jokic(35), Plumlee(13)
Grant starting SF:
Murray(28), Morris(20)
Harris(30), Beasley(13), Murray(5)
Grant(20), Porter(15), Beasley(13)
Millsap(28), Grant(10), Porter(10)
Jokic(35), Plumlee(13)
Without Plumlee:
Murray(28), Morris(20)
Harris(30), Beasley(13), Murray(5)
Porter(25), Craig(15), Beasley(8)
Grant(30), Millsap(18)
Jokic(35), Millsap(13)

Re: 2019-2020 Rotation
Murray Morris
Harris Beasley Barton
Craig Barton Grant
Milsap Grant MPJ
Jokic Plumlee Bol
I think we play better with Craig as the starting wing than with Barton. Grant could take the staring job from Millsap eventually as Milsap saves himself for the playoffs. MPJ, Vanderbilt need to prove they are ready for the NBA 1st and get spot minutes. We really need to make a consolidation trade. Im hoping we also trade Barton to open up more minutes for our young guys.

I hear you both but I was trying to figure out Malone would do, not what makes sense.

Re: 2019-2020 Rotation
So are we saying that about the most you can have in a rotation is 9? Usually 8?
Murray/Harris/Jokic/Grant all sure to play starters minutes.
Millsap/Barton need full minutes or no trade value. If no trade is wanted they could be play some games and not others?
Torrey Craig if as expected is sure to be an over 20 mpg player.
Plumlee imo is a need. Maybe don’t have to play him as much but needed as insurance for now.
Now Beasley: this guy needs big time minutes. I expect another jump.
Monte Morris: obviously surely in the rotation. Ok so there’s 10
So until unless trade/injury the. Mpj, Vanderbilt, Cancar, And Bolbol get to watch. No real time to develop them unless you want to drop Harris and Barton’s stock like an anchor

Murray Morris
Harris Beasley
Juancho MPJ
Millsap Grant Vanderbilt
Jokic Plumlee
Mix in 3 guard line-ups like Morris Murray Harris/Beasley, or a super big lineup of Grant Millsap Jokic.
I also want to see Juancho and MPJ at the 4 too, but the roster won't allow it unless we lose everyone to injury (again).

Millsap-Grant-Vanderbilt-Bol

As to Michael Porter, Jr.:
I know how far fetched it is to be pitching a player as a starter who has never played in the NBA. As I look back over the years, only week teams get high enough draft picks to justify using a rookie as a starter. If you are picking one to three in the first round that player is probably a soon to be starter or you have missed a pick.
Then an injury slides an obvious early pick down to the end of the lottery and falls to a team willing to wait. The wait is over. I see nothing in MPJ's current status that will cause him to miss the start of the season. If he looks this good in practice and has talent apparent to everyone, you play him to see what you got. That's doesn't mean he starts from day one if you have an obvious starter ahead of him but if he is the guy we think he is, then he will be starting sooner than later.

Canned in Denver.

I don't necessarily believe that we can only have 9 or 8. Traditionally, way back when most RealGM folk hadn't even been born

Malone is rather old-school and he has previously talked about wanting a 9-man rotation. Yet if you watch, he tends towards a 10-man rotation - no doubt because of the solid bench. I don't see how he'll be able to use a 9-man rotation this year and with the modern concept of "Load Management" and what happened to Jokic in that OT playoff game, I'm hoping he plays some of them fewer minutes and expands his rotation to even 11 or 12 players in some games. We need to figure out which forwards we are going to want 2-4 years from now. But that's just my opinion.

Its a 8 player rotation for the playoffs. Until then its a full 10 man rotation with nights when even 11-15 get a chance to play big minutes. We are a deep team that has young guys we need to test. We dont really know what we have with our young guys so we need to play them to see. I dont expect them to start but i do expect them to play decent minutes through the season.

Re: 2019-2020 Rotation
Great breakdown on the rotation from TJ McBride
https://milehighsports.com/roster-breakdown-and-position-battles/
Some notable takaways for me:
MPJ getting 13pmg, seems like a realisting range
McBride said Bol started off his college career at 240lbs, found that amazing, especially if we could get him back up to that range
Barton to start at SF but on a 10-15 game leash, Craig's role is smallish and Juancho 3rd string. Training camp will have a huge bearing for Juancho. Is he and Craig trade options and does Cancar have anything/a lot to do with that ??

I like what he says, but I don't think Malone will agree with him. The best thing I see about rotation changes is that Plumlee is going to see fewer minutes at PF because of Grant.
Assuming 32 mpg for Jokic, Millsap, Harris, Murray and based on Malone's usage of Barton last year and his disinclination towards using young players:
32 - Jokic
16 - Plumlee
32 - Millsap
16 - Grant
24 - Barton
24 - split in order: Craig, Hernangomez, Porter, Vanderbilt, Grant --- This one is very confusing to me, as to what Malone will do
32 - Harris
16 - Beasley
32 - Murray
8 - Beasley
8 - Morris

Re: 2019-2020 Rotation
Really seems early to even consider projections but what the hey !!
Jokic (32) Plumlee (10) Grant (6)
Millsap (24) Grant (20) Juancho/Cancar (4)
Barton (22) MPJ (13) Craig/Grant (13)
Harris (28) Beasley (20)
Murray (32) Morris (16)
Cancar/Juancho will see spot duty, Vanderbilt development mins, Bol weight room and dinner bell mins only
Jokic (32) Plumlee (10) Grant (6)
Millsap (24) Grant (20) Juancho/Cancar (4)
Barton (22) MPJ (13) Craig/Grant (13)
Harris (28) Beasley (20)

Re: 2019-2020 Rotation
I'll be so upset if I don't see Grant start at SF even though he's a PF on opening night. Jerami Grant is a starter in this league. If he doesn't then it HAS to be Torrey Craig or Michael Porter Jr.
It's hard to imagine Will Barton on this team with all the wings Denver has on opening night, so here's my rotations:
Starters:
Murray
Gary
Grant
Millsap
Jokic
Bench:
Plumlee
Craig
Morris
Beasley
Porter Jr.
I don't remember exactly who comes out 5 minutes in 1st quarter and so on but I believe it's:
(5:00 mark 1st quarter lineup)
Morris
Gary
Barton (I'd rather Craig slot in here)
Jokic
Plumlee (I believe they stick with this or Grant stays in)
(Start of 2nd quarter lineup)
Morris
Beasley
Craig
Porter Jr.
Plumlee
(8:00 mark 2nd quarter lineup)
Morris
Murray (I like this lineup for Murray because he plays the 2 with Monte Morris playing the PG)
Beasley
Porter Jr. (I believe this is where Craig was)
Plumlee
This is probably confusing so I didn't continue.
Once again, I strongly believe Will Barton won't be on the roster. There's just too many wings. Beasley & Harris play at SF sometimes, Craig or Grant could start at SF, Michael Porter Jr. might earn minutes at SF/PF, Vlatko Cancar and Juan Hernangomez play SF/PF... That's 8 wings.
