Training camp/Pre-season

Post#1 » by TunaFish » Tue Dec 8, 2020 12:22 am

Practices are underway and I found a link to one of the practices today, I think:

RJ Hampton made a great feed to MPJ for a dunk. Hartenstein (sp?) looked good also. Team looked good.

He looks like he made a quick decision, didn't let the defense get set up.

I have been impressed by Hartenstein in the limited videos out of training camp so I thought I would take a look at what Rocket's fans are saying about him. I can't find one that thought he should have been cut. Here is a link but if you open this thread take a look at some of the pics of him with his girlfriend (this should brighten your day):

What I don´t like from Hartenstein is his contract. Basically, he is a one year rental. Player option in the second year means that if he plays at a decent level, he will opt out and we won´t be able to pay him because we don´t even have his Early Bird rights.

Correct but you just drafted a 6'11" center/power forward in Nanji so you have an option there. Hartenstein is on a veterans minimum and may opt in or out in the next season but he may earn a better salary from the Nuggets in the future as well, we will see. I don't think the Nuggets dislike his contract and he probably does fill an important back up position for at least this season.

He is a hell of a lot cheaper than Plumlee and may provide a similar impact.

Nice to get players like this when you can.

Interesting comments. I knew they cut Hartenstein, I never understood why, and it looks like their fans do not understand why either.

We can give him a contract for 120% of the minimum next year if he works out, if he does really well it may cost us part of the MLE. From all reports he had multiple offers and choose to come to Denver because he knows and loves Monte Morris and knows we use bigs. Personally I am good with that.

I wonder how Green is doing now that team practices have began? Haven't seen any of his clips except for that Day 1 interview.

I am sure he is fine, but training camp is when the team pushing the new guys with big potential so that fans get hyped up on what they hope is a championship run. Every team does it and usually half the guys they push hard in training camp do not even make their team's rotation.

That pass by Hartenstein in training camp is nice. I think this guy might just be the answer at backup center.

I was checking out the number of Nuggets that are on contract after this season. Millsap is obviously not. Barton, Hartenstein and Green have player options for the second year on their contracts. Except for two ways, I count 11 players are under contract for more than one year (some not guaranteed though).

This training camp will likely tell us what we have for the foreseeable future.

Murray-Harris-Dozier-Green-Jokic lineup featured in this video, is this the starting lineup?

Also seems to be growing momentum that Bol will be a rotation player

Dozier won't displace MPJ in the starting lineup but that would make for an incredible bench. As for Bol, not only could I see him as a rotational player, I'm praying for it !!
