Nuggets General Stats & Such

Post#1 » by NuggetsWY » Mon Apr 19, 2021 8:36 pm

Just browsing some stats, not that I'm an expert. But it looks to me like our offense is one of the best, including offensive rebounding - along with most of the offensive stats that box-score watchers look at.

The one stat that bothers me is that we are 28th in free throws attempted. With Jokic playing point, players ought to be cutting towards the basket more and that would result in more free throws. Not only are baskets at the rim a high percentage shot, but getting into the bonus earlier and getting the other team's rim protectors in foul trouble can make a big difference at the end of the game - and sometimes during other periods of the game.

Our defense is a mix of fair to worse. We are barely in the top-10 in steals, which is good and as everyone always points out, we're in the bottom-6 in blocks. But we're also one of the best rebounding teams. Our opponents don't shoot a good FG% but they do shoot a top-10 3pt%. It seems to me that our 3pt defensive approach needs some work.
