Sorry guys, have been busy and the lack of specific videos abt him made it harder.
But let's see what he has done in 2 different competitions (French League + Eurocup)
French League : 8 games total : (2-6) 16th out of 18 teams in the League
- 10.6pts (80% 2pt%, 65% FT%)
- 9.6 reb (3 off) : 1st in the League
- 2.1 blocks : 2nd in the League behind Wemby (2.9)
- 1.8 ass : vs 0.7 last year
- 27 min/game
This game is the last one played, vs Le Mans (very good french team this yr. And this game marks the beginning of the season for them imo. Kamagate was a key player in the system, offering great defense coverings that allowed fast pace transition bball for players like Begarin who thrives in this system.
Eurocup : 4 games total : (2-2), 7th out of 10 teams, first 8 go to next round.
- 10 pts (82.5% 2PT%, 100%FT : only 2 taken)
- 8.5 reb : 6th of the competition
- 2.5 blocks : 1st of the competition
- 1 ass
- 1st
Overall there are nice stats, but the lack of chemistry in the beginning of the season + the injury of Begarin made the team lose a lot of games.
He's not really capable to create his own shot when he's too far from the basket, but his instinctive reactions under the basket give him great chances to catch the right move (rebound or catch a pass + quick upside) mostly in small spots. His hands agility is a great weapon, but that means since he cant create for himself, that he has to play in a smart system with smart players.
Paris is growing and the team knows how to use Kamagate's skillset, from now on Paris bball is gonna be better bc Toupane becoming more comfortable + Begarin returning should change a lot of things and Kamagate should get benefit from the spacing created by the return of Begarin + the arrival of former NBA player Jeremy Evans.
His defense is always on point, as i could see his game yesterday with France vs Lithuania, he's a soldier on the court and a perfect role player. His IQ basketball isnt incredible but he never does what he knows he cant do, but the FT line jump shot is progressing and here and there he'll take them instinctively.
I'll try to keep you guys posted more often ! Next game Sunday, let's see if i'm too optimistic for this team ...
