Make Melo and AI allstar starters!

Post#1 » by Kash » Fri Jan 4, 2008 12:45 am

Hey all, huge nuggets fan here, semi new to RealGM, been reading the boards for a while, and decided to finally register. Melo will most likely make it as an allstar starter, but we all need to get out and help AI become one too. Hes not that far off from t-mac.Also, Camby's third in voting now, and though it's unlikely he will pass Amare, we might as well try. http://www.realgm.com/src_wiretap_archi ... g_returns/
Just reminding people to go out and vote for the Nuggets in the All star game!

Go Nuggets!

AI can't win, sad as it is to say because he's outplayed T-mac this year easily.

China won't let it happen though. Maybe T-Mac will sit out the ASG for injury reasons (wouldn't be a bad idea, he shouldn't be playing any games he doesn't need to play in) and then AI will start.

do injury replacements for starters go to runners-up? Melo is basically a lock at this point, AI has almost no chance votes-wise. hopefully he gets voted in as a reserve, he's played well enough I think.

AI will definitely get voted in by coaches. He's playing great ball this year. Third in the league in scoring on a very good FG% and on a winning basketball team.

Also, AI is a household name and an entertainer by nature; his game just lends itself to Oooohs and Ahhhhs, so he'll make it.

Not so sure about that. AI's entered a phase of his career where his biggest critics actually have more influence on the publics perception of his skill than the hype coming from his fans. When Barkley says you can't do anything but score, espn says you got shutdown by kobe and your team loses on national TV in spite of you scoring 50 points or so, you lose a lot of standing. It happens to all players that age. Jordan didnt even get voted into the AS game despite the fact Vince Carter was injured most of that year and still got the fans vote because he was the in thing at the time. For whatever reason the market in denver doesn't really shield its franchise players or do the PR thing as well as other major teams. So players like melo or AI can have a couple negative things said about them by a media type and the casual nba fan will accept that label as true and under-rate that player. Think about it. Why isnt Melo's name being considered for MVP. He's been averaging a double double for as long as Roy has had his run of good games yet because Roy has that marketing machine behind him at the moment, melo's considered a "second tier player" while roy is being branded as one of the elite players in the league....
