The Memphis Grizzlies signed forward Bobby Jones to a 10-day contract, Grizzlies General Manager and Vice President of Basketball Operations Chris Wallace announced today.

The 6-7, 215-pound forward owns career averages of 2.8 points and 1.3 rebounds in 8.1 minutes in 67 games (five starts) in two seasons with the Philadelphia 76ers (2006-07) and Denver Nuggets (2007-08).

Jones became available after the Nuggets waived him on Jan. 7 after averaging 3.3 points and 1.4 rebounds in 23 games (no starts) this season.

Guess the Nuggets weren't interested in bringing him back.

I wonder how much playing time he would get in Memphis? Backing up Rudy Gay?

Hopefully more time than Casey Jacobsen gets.

We need sg/sf defense in a seriously bad way.

we liked him, karl apparently didn't.

his energy on the court (particularly defensively) is contagious, he's really long & athletic, and he was hitting perimeter shots for us when he got minutes.

I don't get it,why did denver waived him instead of von wafer, von seems like a one dimension player while bobby could defend and knock down the occasional 3,can someone tell me whether wafer contract was guarenteed or was it like bobby?,if it's like bobby then the front office is an idiot to not waive wafer.

Thanks rebel,i just couldn't believe they would waive a player who could defend and hustle like bobby and keep wafer who's at the end of the bench.
