Mark Kiszla: Time for GK to step up

We feel sorry for the Nuggets. We really do.

But if this pity party goes on too long, Denver will miss the NBA playoffs.

And, should that happen, somebody's going to get fired.

With a roster depleted by a serious health scare to Nene and so many nagging injuries it's depressing, Denver has two choices:

The Nuggets can make a trade.

Or George Karl can remind us what all the fuss was about when he was hired by Denver three years ago, and coach 'em up.

I love it when someone brings the team's coaching problem to the public attention. Small fire will turn into big fire eventually... we need more of these and GK will be gone in no time.

I know Cats and Hawks are underrated, but really if we're going to want to have 55 win+ season, then losing to teams like that is not acceptable.

I don't care if we take a step back or two by firing him now... he's the ROOT of the problem. We underachieve because he never sets up high expectations and seems happy to settle for mediocrity. We will be worse for short term and get better in the long term... I'd rather see him gone rather than be stuck with him for another year or two.

Sick of this, tired of this, enough of this... cut the ties.

it becomes a lot less likely that the Nuggets could sign a coach worth anything at all if they pressure gk out vs. getting him/waiting for him to resign. maybe he just decides that his heart isn't in it anymore. that's how he appears most of the time...

does anyone think we'll make any trades before the deadline?

I think it depends on the severity of Kmart's infection and what kind of downtime can be expected with Nene based on the results of all his biopsies. if Kmart is day to day right now (or within the next week or so) and all the the biopsy results on Nene are negative (benign) than I don't think we'll see any trades. at least not any major ones. if for whatever reason we are going to lose either or both players for an extended period of time than I would expect a trade. I don't foresee any significant trade to aquire a guard, as Kisla suggested in that article. on a positive note, JR has been getting significant playing time lately...
