We can trade Klieza and Najera for him. I'm sure the Kings want to trade Artest being that he indicated that he's opting out next season. So why aren't we trying to get if if we're going for it all right now?
A.I.
Carmelo
Artest
Kmart
Camby
That'll be the best offensive and defensive starting 5 in the league. Don't say Melo or Artest can't play shooting guard because they both can shoot and Artest will still guard the best player, which allows us not to use little Anthony Carter on guys like Kobe. Artest can shoot/score and he's a ball handler so it helps us out tremendously, not to forget that he's a good passer as well.

I like that lineup but who would back up Carmelo?

Best starting lineup in the league? Possibly. But also leaves us with the worst bench in the league. No thanks.

We would have no bench at all which is the first problem. The second problem is artest being sane is no guarantee especially since he left the Pacers because he wanted to be the main guy. Now he wants to leave the Kings because Kevin Martin is the main guy. Artest wants to be able to take 15 shots a night, how is he going to do that with Melo and AI?

Take away Camby and Kmart shots and there you go
A.I./Atkins/Carter
Carmelo/JR/Von
Artest/
Kmart/Nene
Camby/Hunter
sign a scrub. We only play 8 anyway.

AI isn't gonna play at Point, he already said it about 6 years ago in Philly.

The decision needs to be made whether Artest would respect the leadership and authority of AI and Melo. If so, he could be a great addition and may be worth taking a shot at even if the bench then sucks.
Somewhat analogous to Rodman going to the Bulls. I think Artest is a bigger flake than Rodman in that he lets his attitude affect his play plus he has the desire to be THE guy so buyer beware.

Hey now, at least Artest has never worn a wedding dress

If it's just Nene and Artest, I'd say why not, but if we are getting another bad contract in the deal, or losing a major role player, forget it.
And besides, isn't Nene injured? Isn't there a rule against trading injured players? He wont be eligible until after the trade deadline. By time we can trade him, Artest will probably be a free agent.
Also, we are not in "win now mode." Calm down.

Nene isn't injured, he has a personal health issue.
At least the Nuggets didn't have to disclose the cancer, because it wasn't Basketball related. No idea how that applies to trades though.

Isn't A.I. thinking about opting out? Isn't Camby getting older? Isn't Kmart getting older?
We're in "win now" mode.

From everything seen so far, it seems we are in "just make sure we're barely in the playoffs so there is a shot at pulling an upset"
Win now mode would be a 10 game win streak right now.
Won 9 games in January....that's ok, but they really need to win 10 games every month, with one "ok" month, on average, to reach the 55 win goal.
December and January have been "ok"
February would be a good time to have a breakout month and win 12.

December and January have been "ok
It was a great month! At least in Karl's eyes.
Hard for a team to reach excellence when the coach demands okay.

All he has to do is say, "You guys played your heart out tonight, keep doing that, except this time, finish your damn layups."
Rewarding, yet to the point.

Link? From what I know, he always says that he would play any position as long as coach tells him to do.
