In order to complete the trade, the Sonics waived Brent Barry to make the necessary roster spots available. Barry was acquired yesterday in a trade with the San Antonio Spurs.

get him... we could use some playoff experience.

he can hit the three, which would be great, but I have a hard time believing the Spurs won't sign him.

true, but I don't really think that would have much influence on his decision. maybe the Spurs don't want him anymore, but I find that kind of hard to believe.
edit: most of the teams with the cap-space to sign him for what he's worth are probably not interested in an aging player like him and are in the rebuilding process anyway.

if stern denies stackhouse returning to the mavs, then he should do the same with barry & the spurs.

just because it will be done under the table, while saying all the politically correct things doesn't make it acceptable.

actually, thats what makes it totally acceptable, at least as far as the cba goes.

So that's Stern's loop hole to help his favorite team? He wouldn't let Dallas do it, since Stackhouse mentioned it happening, but since Barry has been quiet, he'll let them do it?

That'd be pretty sad, but Stern has already proven what he considers "fair" is actually just helping the Spurs win.

Hello....sign him.

Why exactly would we not sign him? Kroenke was willing to trade for Artest or Miller.

Honestly, I would be more disappointed in the FO for not signing Barry than for the trade deadline. I mean, the team that's been kicking us out of the first round just gave up one of their long range threats, we still need long range threats..........duh.

That'd be really good.

He would fit perfectly along side AI, for maybe up to 20 mins a game (more likely 15ish). Can handle the ball, run the floor, and hit the 3, while being able to defend opponents 2s.

As somebody else mentioned (corona perhaps?) recently, the Nuggets never get these veterans. He's going to one of the 'elite' teams in the West, and I'd frankly be shocked if it wasn't back to SA.

No one needs to go to the trade thread to get caught up. You need to just LEAVE and NEVER COME BACK. I might be going out on a limb here but Im pretty postive there is not one single person that is listening to you nor wants to see you here anymore. GO back and inform your sixer friends assuming you have any prolly did the same thing over there and are no longer welcome so you tried to come do it here. JUST LEAVE!

As far as Brent Barry sure itd be a good signing but its not going to happen. I see him going right back to SA and hes not an idiot like Stackhouse so Stern will allow it.

Karl pointed out that the Nuggets still could add a veteran player for the stretch run. Most intriguing would be shooting guard Brent Barry, who was traded from San Antonio to Seattle and then waived Thursday by the SuperSonics.

"I'm a Brent Barry guy," Karl said. "He's a quality player (from) a championship team. You've always got to be interested in guys like that."

I'm really more interested in Barry's playoff experience and championship rings rather than his talent. But this team could use some of his leadership, and it'd be really really stupid if they dont make any attempt at him.

The team should make an attempt to sign him, he can help our outside shooting and give the team some veteran leadership.
