The Rockets waived guard/forward Gerald Green, who was acquired by Houston via trade with the Minnesota Timberwolves on Feb. 21, 2008.
IMO i think hes alot like JR and could sign for the MLE and give depth or w/e soo....what r ur thoughts?

MLE for Gerald Green? young mle players don't get waived.

we have a significantly better version in jr smith. and we don't need anymore low basketball iq and inconsistent players on the roster.

and what exactly is the mle for like money wise, exactly what is it? im just not sure, i mean i kinda understand from what u talk about but y dont young mle players get waived, oh nvrmnd thats dumb, bc isnt the mle the lowest you can be paid and all and it would be dumb to waive a player who is making mle that has room to grow oh ok

seriously dude, its got to be harder to type that way than it is to type full words. 'nvrmnd' are you kidding me? why would you write like that? i'm not trying to be a jerk, but i would rethink that style.

For a team trying to make the playoffs, its pointless to try to sign Gerald Green. He won't get the minutes to gauge whether or not he should be here long term and he will just sit on the end of the bench until the offseason where he bolts somewhere else. Even if the Nuggets make the playoffs, he isn't eligible for the playoffs anyway. Let him become a Knick where Isiah can salivate all over his talent and potential and they can move one step closer to the highlight team they are building.

Why is that? I know that you have to be signed by a certain date to be eligible for the playoff roster, but I guess I don't when that is. Or is it that you have to play a certain number of games with a team?

Also, that kinda got me thinking, would Barry be eligible to play for the Spurs in the playoffs? Seems to me that if we couldn't sign Green and have him on our playoff roster, that the Spurs wouldn't be able to sign Barry and have him play in the playoffs either. But I can't imagine the Spurs would have traded him if he wasn't going to be eligible for their playoff roster.

Green would needed to waived by March 1st in order to playoff eligible. The issue is more about when you are waived versus when you can sign. Brent Barry is able to return to the Spurs and be playoff eligible because he was waived on Feb. 22nd. So all he has to do is wait the 30 day period required for players wishing to return to the team that traded them and he is good to go. Green was waived on Saturday, March 8th one week after the deadline.
