This doesn't mean that he won't opt out...
Don't be surprised if he does opt out...

We'd be even more in cap-hell if we had traded for Artest. Him opting out was one of the biggest reasons why I was even interested in him. If it didn't work we could just cut salary and have 8 million off the books.

i'll settle for Kleiza and his 1 million dollar salary and Najera who wants to take a paycut to stay. He wasn't going to make us a championship level team so why risk the future?

It was probably Kleiza's highest value ever in his career.

We better get something out of him this summer because you can quote me on this, he will NEVER EVER be a star in his career. He will just be a role player like he is right now on this team.

On a note though, Artest may threaten to opt out if he's not traded to contenders. So Kings may revisit this trade in the summer... and we'll do it

doesnt this team need solid role players tho?

Kleiza might not ever be an allstar but all good teams have inexpensive, solid role players. Kleiza and Najera are probably desired by every team in the league. They'll always have some value.

Ric Bucher reported about a month ago during one of Denver's ESPN games that the reason the Nuggets didn't do the trade was they couldn't get a guarantee that Artest would opt out. Take it for what it's worth.

your right that ron is a better all around player than both eddie and lk but the one thing that they have on him is that they except their roles on this team...not sure if ron would except being a 3rd or 4th option.

That's the truth. God knows what's going on in this man's head. The guy is far from mentaly stable.

Catch-22: he can't be traded until AFTER he's chosen to opt out or not.

Team Cancer, nuff said. But hell, lets put ourselves in more salary cap hell for a player who will be lucky to stay out of trouble, will force JR to eventually opt-out (since he will be getting even less minutes), and cost us 2 good role players and a first.

Sign me up.

Nice article. Yeah, it is a shame that the Nuggets didnt got Artest. With Artest, the Nuggets go up a level and joined the Elite teams like Hornets and Lakers...But oh well...George Karl nixed the deal due to his close relationship of Linas...IIRC...
