Artest was sitting on the baseline near the Nuggets' bench Sunday. He said he still hasn't decided whether or not to opt out of his contract -- "My agent doesn't want me to," he said -- and not to read anything into his proximity to the Nuggets.

Could it be he really wants to play for Nuggets next season? Why would he watch the Lakers? It's gotta be the NUggets

has anybody actually contemplated the bad that may have come with Artest? People keep bringing the guy up and things he has said, while a member of another team. Think about that for a while. This guy is a great teammate to have and could have came in with an attitude only to help the Nuggets blow the playoffs.

Carmelo can play the sg. Its not like he'll be guarding opposing sgs.

RON ARTEST PLAYED SG IN CHICAGO!!..i dont kno how many times i have to say it...he would be defendin the other players sg anyway. And its not like the nuggets use set plays where u need a true SG anyway

It's probably the shortest plane ride to a playoff game for him.
Don't read too much into it.

Couldnt we just sign him if he opts out? Maybe he would take the mid-level if we had one.

Where would Ron Artest play? HUH??? He'd play the wing beside Melo. It would be AI, Ron and Melo. The thing about Ron is he wouldn't only help on defense, he'd be great offensively because the offense could be ran through him at times.
Artest would be guarding the best perimeter player on the opposing team anyways so it's only semantics if you want to call him a SG or SF on Denver. Melo and Artest could easily play on the wings together.

Unless Kroenke is planning on expanding the luxury tax beyond all semblances of the Knicks payroll, Artest should prove a very stark reminder of what COULD be if some guys don't play up to their ability. They know where they want to go if things don't work out. That's one big option sitting over there. Potentially.

You think the Nuggets get bad press now...wait and see what would happen if they got Ron Ron
Seriously, I think Ron would do well in Denver, he would certainly help out and would make the Nuggets even more versitile...but you also have to look at Ron Artest, the guy is like a ticking time bomb at times and the Nuggets would certainly be making a gamble. They already have a lot of different personalities on that team, just imagine if you add Ron Artest....like Charles barkely said "the Nuggets would need Dr. Phil in that locker room if they got Ron Artest". Is it a gamble worth making? Maybe....but then again I am not the Coach that has to put up with managing all those personalities either.

But the reason we didn't get Artest was because of the uncertainty whether or not he will opt out this summer. Not because we really believe Kleiza was or would be a superstar. Spending a talented player like Kleiza for a ptentially rental player was a waste, but had the management known Artest would not opt out, I think that trade would have been made.
So, I think that trade will be revisited by both teams this summer.

I agree. I think if you look at a lot of top teams, they have a defensive anchor, someone that you know is going to be the one to gaurd the opposing teams best player. San Antonio has Bruce Bowen, the Rockets have Shane Battier the Suns have Raja Bell and so on.... the Nuggets don't have that. Yeah Camby is the reining DPOY, but he is more of a shot blocker. I think that Ron Artest would benefit this team more then not...but you always have to look at the negative baggage he might bring along with everything else. Who knows, we shall see.

Your right KMart would not be gaurding Kobe, if we even made it into the playoffs, however kMart would be on the bench as Karl will not play AI at PG. He has said it over and over again, and proven it throughout the last two seasons, so that means Melo and Artest at the forwards slots, and still holes in the backcourt.

i'm sure Karl would use AI at the point, had Artest come.

That's what amazes me about Karl. Someone should ask him who he thinks plays PG when Carter is on the bench.
As per 82games.com, Iverson plays 42% of the total minutes at PG and 43% at SG (essentially the same). He also averages 10 assists per 48 minutes at PG to only 6.6 at SG, and the turnovers are the same. So obviously he looks to pass the ball more, and in turn is much more efficient at PG.
