CASSELL TO NUGGETS?

Boston guard Sam Cassell told the Rocky Mountain News before Game 1 of the Finals he "definitely will talk'' to the Nuggets when he becomes a free agent on July 1.

Cassell, 38, reiterated what he said in October. He wants to play one more season before getting into coaching, and he believes Nuggets coach George Karl can help.

"George is a hell of a coach, and he's also a good friend,'' said Cassell, who played for Karl in Milwaukee.

After Cassell's contract was bought out by the Clippers in February, he considered signing with the Nuggets but chose Boston because of its better record.

"I had some heart-to-heart talks with George, and he understood,'' Cassell said. "Look where I am now.''

Let's hope it happens this time. I think he also wants more playing time. He has complained about the lack of playing time in Boston. He would surely get some decent playing time here.

Id be worried about GK overplaying him. He doesnt have much left in him, but he's a good guy to have around in the big games. I think we could also use his leadership in the lockerroom, but at times I think we have too many people that want to be the "leader" (although none of them are good at it).

maybe he'll play for us one season...join the coaching staff as an assistant...and then become the defensive head coach we've all been looking for.

it happened with avery johnson. :D

offer him the mininum.

his veteranship and leadership is what the team desperately needs. an improvement in AC in basically all aspects.

have you seen him in these playoffs?

horrendous, imho. in the last game alone he made a ton of poor plays, took bad shots, and played awful defense.

people talk about leadership....but since when do leaders complain about playing time in a playoff run?

and then consider that karl's the coach...and sam will get a ton of minutes regardless of how many times he takes a jumpshot instead of entering the ball into the post (he's pretty notorious for that....see nickname, same i am), or how many times his man flies around him for a layup...etc, and it's a bad fit.

hire him as an assistant coach, sure. not a player.

But he could be the man that actually gets Karl back into wanting to coach. Their good friends. If he's on the team GK might give a ****.

F him. Last year he opted to chase a ring w/Boston.

Agreed. The guy wants to come to Denver now when he realizes that more then likely he will not get a contract anywhere else, let him sit at him and clip coupons, as he is all done.

I say bring him in to primarily play a locker room role. Judging by the way he has been whining about playing time in Boston, he may not go for it, but he will have a chance to show what kind of impact he can have on players if he takes it. He will also be able to learn from a great coach in Karl (*cough* bull****)

I just don't want to see him here as our point or even our backup point. I've watched him in the playoffs and it's clear that he doesn't have it anymore. Bones are creaky and the body just doesn't react in time. Sometimes he tries to bring out the old pull up jumper he's built his career on, but it just ends in a bad shot for him.

lol....Cassell is horrible. He only signed with Boston to get a ring and he's already looking elsewhere.
