Anthony Carter likely to accept Nuggets offer

The Nuggets don’t have much to spend on a point guard. But they’re hoping Anthony Carter will return at a discount.

The free agent said Sunday the Nuggets have offered him a guaranteed contract for the NBA minimum, which is $1.262 million in his classification. He said the “chances are very, very high” he will accept the offer and sign shortly after the signing period begins Wednesday.

Carter said he got the offer in a Saturday conversation with Nuggets vice president of basketball operations Mark Warkentien. Carter, who played last season for the minimum of $1.147 million, was hoping for a multi-year deal worth more, but was told of Denver’s salary constraints by Warkentien.

Thought Carter had all sorts of teams offering him multi-year deals... if hes back in a backup roll at least the sucker signs for the min.

Now we know why our first round pick was so expendable. Chalmers doesn't have anything on Carter. Now all we have to do is let Najera walk and do a S&T with JR to totally screw up the off season. Wark is a genius.

Warkentien: OK boys, we have some big decisions to make soon, as the Free Agency will be heating up between teams and trades will happen. Let's look at our current depth chart, from the backcourt... AI, Chucky, AC...

Bearup: Errrm, sorry to interrupt Mark, but AC is a free agent right now.

Warkentien: Are you sure Brett?

Bearup: Yeah Mark... he wants a multi-year deal, and said that there are other teams interested in him.

Karl: ****!, what are we going to do about the backcourt and defense now?

Chapman: what are you doing in here in our GM discussion room George?

Karl: this is my team remember? i thought we made a deal that whatever happens, i get the last word.

Chapman: oh yes that's right.

Karl: anyways, we better get AC back next season... i don't think there's a better player in the league that can be championship point guard than him...

Bearup: i just got a word from the other NBA teams, and they all said that they do not plan on offering AC a contract.

Chapman: hmm, then we should be able to get him for the miminum then, what do u think George?

Karl: OH YEAH... trust me with this, AC will not let us down in attaining a championship... i have already thought of what i'd do... firstly i'll play him 28 min...

Bearup: erm... sorry to interrupt again... but i've got a suggestion, how about starting AI at the point and using JR at the 2?

Karl: LOL! JR can't play any defense... and we don't want to promote an offensive identity...

Bearup: but stastistically we concede a lot less points with JR on the court...

Karl: that is all bull and u know it. don't believe in those stats Brett...

Chapman: uhhm how about plan B? what if AC does happen to get a better offer with another team and joins them

Warkentien: i've already figured that one out... we'll then offer it to the likes of Boykins, Lue..

Bearup: but they're all midgets

Karl: if they're shorter, it means they're better on offense... so we can run a fast paced system, so if we score more points then what the other team scores, we win.

Guys, I think this means a trade is on the horizon.......I could very easily see a Thomas/Hinrich for a Camby/Atkins/1st (protected) in the future.......

He's a good player at the league minimum, but has shown his skill as a backup, not a starter. I think we address this move and we're SOLID.....

Hinrich/AC/Taureen, AI/JR/Weems, Melo/Kleiza, Kmart/Thomas/Najera, Nene/Hunter.

Why on Earth would the Bulls include Thomas in that trade? It won't happen.

Its not that bad guys. He makes the league minimum, we have to fill out the roster with somebody.

Ya but not a brutal PG that will be played for 25-30mins a game, ultimately taking mins away from JR. You'd think if we were paying a guy the league min he would be a role player with 5-10mins a game. but not as long as ****ing GK is around...it's stupid ass move... And now Bulls are saying they want to keep hinrich, this season will suck nuts if this will be our roster.

My concern is protecting George Karl from himself, and his man crush on Anthony Carter is well documented.
